THQ and Jakks Pacific have jointly announced that WWE SmackDown vs Raw 2008 will debut for the first time on Wii, DS and the PlayStation 3. The game, which is also coming out for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 2 and PSP, is the biggest cross-platform launch for the franchise.

A top US Microsoft executive has dismissed Nintendo’s Wii console as a child’s toy. This follows an attack on the PlayStation 3 by a Microsoft UK executive earlier in the week.

In an attempt to curb violent crimes, Mexican authorities have decided on a trial program. Citizens of Mexico City can trade in their high caliber automatic or semi-automatic weapons (such as rifles or machine guns) for a PC.

Nintendo and Sega jointly made a historical announcement that their mascots, Mario and Sonic will appear in the upcoming sports game collection “Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games.” This agreement marks the first time these two renowned mascots have appeared together in a game.

Traveller’s Tales, the team behind the madly popular Lego Starwars I & II, today announced Lego Batman: The Videogame. Partnered with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, Traveller’s Tales and Lego Batman is sure to bring the DC Comics fictional superhero to life in a completely interactive LEGO Gotham City.

Microsoft was quick to deny that they had a problem with security measures on their XBOX Live service last week. That is changing as they admitted yesterday that some XBOX Live support staff have been giving away personal information over the phone without verifying the callers identity.
