Halo 3 to come in three flavors
By Jonathan Schlaffer
The retail packaging of the most anticipated Xbox 360 game of the year has been revealed. If you haven’t heard about Halo 3 by now you have been living under a rock. It is the successor to the most successful titles on the Xbox, namely, Halo and Halo 2 (which is also coming to PC, Vista only).
There are several types of retail packaging for Halo 3. The Standard Edition is just the game disc in a standard Xbox 360 game packaging (now what would be the fun in purchasing it).
Then we have the Halo 3 Limited Edition which ships in a metal case and includes the game disc as well as a bonus disc with behind the scenes featurettes which among other things includes the “Making of Halo 3”.
The crème de la crème Halo 3 Legendary Edition will only be available in limited quantities but will be well worth locating and no doubt what will be a premium price tag. Halo 3 Legendary Edition ships in a collectible Spartan helmet (Master Chiefs helmet) and includes the game disc, the bonus discs that are included with the Limited Edition and an additional disc that has remastered material from the original Halo and Halo 2.
Halo 3 Legendary Edition also comes with a behind the scenes at Bungie HQ featurette and there will be an additional disc with not yet revealed “exclusive” content.
If you purchase either the Standard Edition or Limited Edition you are getting a fairly watered down experience, the only edition this author would buy is the Legendary Edition, my recommendation is you do the same (it’s worth the helmet alone). Don’t believe me, then read a comparison of the various editions and see for yourself (there are more pictures as well).
