Blockbuster releases top 10 video games list
By Triston McIntyre
Blockbuster, one of the major video and video game rental retailers in the US, recently released an updated list of the top 10 most rented games at Blockbuster locations.
The list is as follows, from top of the list to the bottom:
1. “God of War II” for PS2; rated M
2. “Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter II” for Xbox 360; rated M
3. “Def Jam: Icon” for Xbox 360; rated M
4. “Madden NFL ‘07″ for Xbox 360; rated E
5. “Crackdown” for Xbox 360; rated M
6. “Major League Baseball 2k7″ for Xbox 360; rated E
7. “Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories” for PS2; rated M
8. “Tiger Woods PGA ‘07″ for Wii; rated E
9. “God of War” for PS2; rated M
10. “NCAA Football 2007″ for Xbox 360; rated E
There are a few interesting points worth taking away from these findings. First, the majority of the top ten rented games are for the Xbox 360 platform. Not a single Playstation 3 game made the list, and only 1 Wii game made an appearance.
It is also interesting that the entire list is comprised of either Mature-rated action games, or E-rated sports games. That is very reflective of the direction video games today are going; how many Teen-rated games are being played? Can you name one?
Many of the most popular games today did not make the most-rented list (Final Fantasy, Halo, Gears of War, etc.), and that could be attributed to most gamers wanting to own their own copy, for more than 5 days’ playing time.
That could mean this list is comprised of the best mediocre games on the market; not amazing enough to buy, but good enough for 5 days of gaming.
What would be your top ten video games on the market today? Which games do you think are receiving the most gameplay? Until next time, good readers!

I think it’s safe to say that Wii sales have outperformed everyones expectations even without any amazing titles asside from the metroid series, zelda, and mario. If nintendo wants to stay on top they need to enlist some third party game designers to hook their system up with some new software. If there aren’t any ground breaking games that forms lines at the stores, they are going to fall by the waistside to MS and Sony because of graphics and their list of must have games. Pull your socks up Nintendo

First of all the ps3 would be very much populer if they were not so expensive. The Wii is more cheaper for americas hard working minimam paid working citizen so of course food stampes dont but games so they buy the cheap but populer game system. and halo does seck unless played multi-player dueling

I love how no one can comment on topic, but feels the need to revert to being fanboys. I’m not surprised by it. My local Blockbuster has maybe 8 - 10 PS3 games for hire, whereas it has probably close to 50 PS2 games and at least 20 XBox 360 games. I guess it comes down to choices. Also, they seem to have very few Wii games, which I find odd.

Okay first of all you guys are all retarded Xbox and XBOX 360 rock and Microsoft couldn’t have done any better than that which is a compliment since it so good as far as the exclusives and graphics and games of the year and bestsellers and platinum hits and all that good stuff. Bungie is a great contributer to the Xbox games and is part of the reason it is so popular (to smart people). I am very disappointed in blockbusters very thin choice of games because they have barely anything (at the moment). I wish they had more racing games, action games, sports, (especially because there is like one at tops in each store)adventure, miscellaneous, and maybe even some story games which are just movies made after the stories of movies. They need a lot more games in there stores, blockbuster this is not a slam at all i just wish you’d have more and i know that you guys are mostly a movie store but c’mon i mean really if you’re a gonna have games why not have a lot of games!!!!!! props to them for having ANY. ttyl game fans
