Yes, LEGO Batman digs this day

March 27, 2007

Traveller’s Tales, the team behind the madly popular Lego Starwars I & II, today announced Lego Batman: The Videogame. Partnered with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, Traveller’s Tales and Lego Batman is sure to bring the DC Comics fictional superhero to life in a completely interactive LEGO Gotham City.

“Batman spans several generations as one of the most popular DC Super Heroes, and Lego Batman will appeal to several generations of gamers who grew up idolizing the Dark Knight and playing with LEGO toys,” said Samantha Ryan, Senior Vice President, Development and Production, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. “Working with TT Games, we are confident they will continue their LEGO games’ success with this title, and we will expand our publishing endeavors with the introduction of the Lego Batman franchise.”

The story unfolds with Batman’s greatest foes, The Joker and The Penguin, escaping from Arkham Asylum and doing what they do best - creating mayhem in Gotham City. It will be soley up to Batman to utilize many of his ever so neat gadgets to silence these villains in this one or two player co/op game.

Players will fight crime as either Batman or Robin, capturing notorious villains or just take their side by controlling the villains themselves.

This isn’t the first time Batman has been teamed with LEGO; a theme of LEGO sets feature vehicles, characters and scenes based on their appearances in DC comics. Lego has obtained the license to produce sets based on all Batman appearances.

Traveller’s Tales’ previous LEGO venture, Lego Star Wars, received the “Game of the Year” award from Kidzworld.com and peaked at the top of the charts in May 2005.
