Grand Theft Auto IV coming to PS3 and Xbox 360
By George Gardner
In an elegant trailer that offered very little details, Take-two Interactive software’s Rockstar Games released our first sneak peak at the upcoming Grand Theft Auto IV.
The story was set in a world that is closely modeled after New York, with a grungy looking Russian man saying, “Life is complicated; I kill people, smuggle people, sold people. Perhaps here, things will be different.”
The trailer didn’t offer much; it was only a cinematic with no actual game play footage, but it was certainly enough to excite even the slightest of GTA fans.
Amazon.com shows GTA IV available for the PS3 and Xbox 360 with a price of $60, and stated to be released on October 16, 2007, in North America, the first Grand Theft Auto to be released simultaneously on the Playstation and Xbox platforms.
”Few franchises have had the profound impact on our industry as ‘Grand Theft Auto,’” said Peter Moore, corporate vice president of the Interactive Entertainment Business in the Entertainment and Devices Division at Microsoft. “Gamers can’t wait to play “Grand Theft Auto IV” in high definition on Xbox 360, and we couldn’t be more excited to have the title on our platform from day one”
The Xbox 360 version is said to contain it’s own exclusive downloadable episodic content via Xbox Live, and both versions will use Rockstar’s Advanced Game Engine, RAGE.
Games in the GTA series have more than proven the test of playability, and have won several ‘game of the year’ awards since its original launch in 1998.
