Limited edition BioShock package confirmed

April 2, 2007

Limited edition BioShock package confirmedBioShock is set to be one of the best first person shooters on the PC or XBOX 360 right next to Crysis. Like Halo 3, BioShock is going to have a Limited Edition collectors’ box set available for purchase.

2K was initially not going to offer a Limited Edition of BioShock but they decided to put up a petition to let people vote for or against it. Having received over 18,000 requests for it, 2K is going ahead with BioShock Limited Edition which will be available to both XBOX 360 and PC owners.

The bonuses to be included with the Limited Edition version have not yet been confirmed. Instead of just putting a package together themselves, 2K is asking users to vote on what the extras should be. Options include a “Big Daddy” figurine, soundtrack, art book, “making of” BioShock DVD, posters or a special edition packaging signed by all the developers.

It seems that the Big Daddy figurine is the early favorite with 37% of the votes in favor of. I think I can go along with that, the “Big Daddy” has got to be one of the coolest characters (enemies if you want to look at it that way) in the game.

They shouldn’t limit themselves to just one option. It would be nice if they could include more than one extra with the Limited Edition version, perhaps have several “special edition” packages, similar to what Halo 3 is doing. I think one with the “Big Daddy” figure, “making of” DVD and posters would go over famously.

We’ll just have to wait and see how the votes go with this.
