Nintendo completes release of the Internet Channel

April 13, 2007

Nintendo completes release of the Internet Channel Nintendo has finally created a new and significantly better version of the Internet Channel powered by, of course, Opera. Nintendo has surely done their research over the past few months by incorporating user submitted ideas and feedback to enhance the online Wii experience.

The cost of the new and enhanced browser for the Wii will cost 500 Wii Points; however, the download will be free until the last day of June 2007. Once received, the Internet Channel will be good for the life of the system.

Previous users of the trial version are sure to notice the quickened startup time of the Internet Channel as well as the quicker access to your favorites, which can now hold up to 48 different addresses.

Nintendo and Opera also touched up many of the handling issues such as better developed Wii remote navigation (two pointers can now be used) and improved zooming and scrolling; when zooming around a page, the text remains crisp and legible at all times.

The parents can now look forward to new content filtering and parental control management; which, is certainly a must when you’re giving a child access to the Internet.

Google and Yahoo! now have built-in search functions available, and more notably, you won’t have to select a search engine each time you perform a search; simply select it once, and you’re good to go.
