Halo 2 delayed for Vista, discounts offered
By Jonathan Schlaffer
Halo 2 was originally scheduled for release next week, on May 8th to be exact. Halo 2 has been delayed at the last minute for an unspecified amount of time and I was really looking forward to picking it up too.
GamePro got the heads up from Microsoft about the delay in an email which read “We’re making some updates to Halo 2 for Windows Vista that should improve the install experience and address other technical issues, ensuring that the final retail version provides a fantastic experience for gamers. Given these changes, we will be adjusting the on-shelf date of the product.”
“Other technical issues” you mean how some games just refuse to render correctly on Vista or how some games refuse to work. Here we have a game specifically designed for Vista and they couldn’t even get that right. Oh well, it’s not unexpected coming from Microsoft but if those updates are anything like we expect, all of them will be underwhelming.
Many retailers have adjusted their websites and announcements accordingly by assigning a new release date of May 22nd for Halo 2 whether or not that is accurate is up to debate.
I don’t know if this is nation-wide or was instituted by Microsoft but discounts are being offered on Halo 2 though I’m not sure if it’s worth it. Pick up an upgrade edition of Vista Home Premium and a copy of Halo 2 from Best Buy and you will get 25% off the entire purchase. It’s not great but it’s better than nothing.
Yes, I could buy Halo 2 and play it on my XBOX 360 now but I’d rather play the game properly with a keyboard and mouse on my PC. Where’s the XBOX 360 keyboard and mouse… I’m waiting…
