D’oh! - Xbox 360 shipping in "Simpsons" yellow
By George Gardner
Microsoft’s Xbox 360 will be partnering with FOX to help promote The Simpsons Movie, and fans will be given the chance to get one of one hundred limited edition “Simpsons” Xbox 360 Pro consoles through a series of special events and promotions.
In preparation for “The Simpsons” movie, debuting on July 27, 2007, this new limited edition console will be given to 100 lucky fans as they compete in special events on the web; although details have not been released as to how one of these unique consoles can be obtained, the promotion will be offered on Xbox.com in the following weeks.
In addition, Microsoft announced four new Xbox 360 games that will be inspired by this summer’s big-screen favorites such as Shrek the Third, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, Ratatouille (the chef rat), and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
Electronic Arts also announced “The Simpsons” video game launching on the PS2, PS3, PSP, Xbox 360, Wii, and Nintendo DS.
“The Simpsons Game” is not based on the upcoming movie, but rather an original title from the writers who created the television program.
“Our goal in developing THE SIMPSONS GAME is to create the most original game ever, which is a lofty goal and only possible given the close collaboration with ‘The Simpsons’ creative team,” said Scot Amos, Executive Producer of the project. “We’re also especially proud of the game’s warm visual feel, which captures – for the first time ever in a game – the look of the TV show.”
“There’s 8,000 lines of dialogue written just for the game,” added Amos, “As Comic Book Guy says, ‘Best. Simpsons Game. Ever!’”
The game is said to be shaped around 16 Simpsons episodes, and will be due for release in Fall.

Keep your eyes on Xbox.com for details on how you can win one. [...]
