Wii is a success, Nintendo still can’t meet demand

The Nintendo Wii is certainly the best selling console of this generation. Almost seven months after it launched, demand is still so great that Nintendo cannot meet the demand for the console because it is so popular. One of the Wii’s attractions is the unique motion sensing controller.

The Nintendo Wii is doing well in Australia, being the quickest to reach 100,000 units sold but Sony claims that the PS3 is actually selling better overall than Nintendo’s much beloved Wii is.
Microsoft has claimed the failure rate of the Xbox 360 is around 3% to 5% but repair data and returns to retailers show otherwise. The failure rate of the console may be 30% or even higher as large numbers of the dreaded “Red Ring of Death” continue to occur. However, it seems that Xbox 360 gamers in the UK are having a really tough time.
The Nintendo Wii is in the hands of millions across the globe and is one of the best selling consoles of all time, making it hard to get, even now. The Wii is popular with just about everyone but is cropping up in places you might not have expected, hospitals, rehab centers and retirement homes.
It’s well known that Sony has been trying to use the PS3 to bolster the Blu-Ray DVD format in its bid to remain relevant in the audio visual market.
The failure rate of Microsoft’s Xbox 360 next-generation gaming console reached an incredible 30% in the months after its launch, according to an Australian retailer.
The PS3 is sitting in third place behind both the XBOX 360 and very popular Nintendo Wii. Sony CEO Sir Howard Stringer is not bowing down to defeat and has outlined a plan to save the ailing console. Stringer holds both US and British citizenship but he played that down saying “I am not a foreigner. I am a Sony warrior.”
Nintendo’s Wii next-generation gaming console has broken yet another record, this time in Australia, having sold more than 100,000 units in the six months since its launch. This makes the Wii the fastest selling console to reach 100,000 unit sales, according to market research company GfK.
Despite ongoing reports about the high failure rates of Microsoft’s Xbox 360 next-generation console, Todd Holmdahl, Microsoft’s corporate vice president of Gaming and Xbox Products Group maintains that the “vast majority of people are having just a great experience”.
It’s no secret that the Nintendo Wii has been selling like hotcakes, making both Sony and Microsoft attempt to redefine themselves and the types of customers they want to attract. In light of all these facts, Sir Howard Stringer, the CEO of Sony said there is no doubt that consumers want a price cut for the PS3 which is under “consideration” at the moment.
