Increasingly desperate Sony has a new plan to save PS3 An increasingly desperate Sony has a new plan to save its floundering PS3 games console — cut jobs. This new plan is substantially different to its old plan. Now, instead of cutting jobs in Europe, it’s cutting them in the US.

Officially, Sony Computer Entertainment has cut jobs in the US in a bid to become more competitive and to “adjust to the industry”, according to a Sony spokesperson in Japan. The spokesperson said there were no plans to cut jobs in Japan.

“The goal is to reform the organization,” the spokesperson told AP.

Sony offers rewards to Gamestop managers to sell PS3Sony just doesn’t seem to get it. First the low end PS3 doesn’t sell so they nix it. Then it says at some point we’ll get a PS3 with a larger hard drive and if that isn’t enough, Sony is now offering rewards to managers of Gamestop/EB if the store can push the PS3 on customers to its satisfaction.

European commission investigates XBOX 360 failuresIt seems that Microsoft can’t catch a break these days what with Vista still failing miserably and apparently so are XBOX 360′s. Now don’t get me wrong, I own a XBOX 360 and I’ve had it for about a year with ZERO issues. There are those XBOX 360 owners that are perfectly happy (like me) and there are others who have gone through five or six units and even then all their issues are not fixed. We’ve talked about that before. And now, the Netherlands and the European Commissioner for Consumer affairs wants answers and wants them now.
