Sony screws Europe with PS3 price, again?

By Danny Mendez

Sony screws Europe with PS3 price again? With the recent announcement in the US of a $100 price cut on the 60GB Sony Playstation 3, many Euro Sony supporters were left feeling under appreciated. Euro gamers already received the shaft when Sony provided only limited backwards compatibility in Euro PS3s due to cost cutting measures.

In a recent E3 event, Sony announced their plans to cut down on the shafting of Euro gamers by providing them with starter bundles. While the Euro PS3 will remain at a price of £425, gamers will take home two controllers and two games with every PS3 purchase at no further cost to the customer.

According to TrustedReviews.com, games offered are currently any of the following two: Fall of Man, Motorstorm, Genji: Days of the Blade, Formula One Championship Edition, and Ridge Racer 7.

Rumors regarding further PS3 price cuts are hitting the Internet like hot cakes; however, none of these price cuts seemed to be headed to Europe.

Being a Sony supporter myself, I’m glad to live on this side of the pond, but I can’t help but feel the pain of my brothers on the other side.

Perhaps Sony is temporarily using Europe in order to support lower prices across the Atlantic, gaining better distribution in America.

I cannot help to notice that Europeans are paying much more than Americans to own a PS3 ($600 = £300, not £425), maybe picking up the financial slack for the comfort of their Yankee counterparts
…or the PS3 is just an expensive machine.

      Dear Sony,
      Wii Fu*ck you !!!
      From Europe

That new US 80Gb, is the hobbled (no EE) Euro version.

So the real objective is to phase out the original (EE included) version in favour of a world-wide cost reduced, yet premium priced unit.

Clever of Sony to cover that up with a pretend price cut.

    5. LFC:

Sony couldn’t care less for Europe its concentrating on the US.

    6. Random:

The new 80gb version may be hobbled but it isn’t the Euro version. The Euro version only has a 60gb drive in it.

In Au the console is even more expensive (we didn’t even get the ‘cheap’ PS3 version) and no announcement to what will make us want a PS3 like games or price cutting.

You’re right! Sony could give a rats arse about anyone outside of the US. And as sales figures would show, people outside of the US are returning the favour.

      what about japan?

but anyway. im in europe and i know im being robbed but in ireland everything is expensive if you ignore the higher average industrial wage.

i dont regret buying my ps3 and i dont think i ever will. i use it for movies, games, music, viewing photos and surfing the internet. it is making my pc prety redundant!
