Xbox 360 redesign, codename Falcon, coming sooner than later!
By Danny Mendez
With the Xbox 360 failure rate set at one of every 3 consoles, Microsoft is speeding up the hardware redesign of its very successful gaming machine.
Rumors originating from Asian component manufacturers indicate Microsoft is speeding up redesign efforts in order to release the updated version of its Xbox 360 console, codename Falcon, sooner rather than later.
The Falcon Xbox 360 is said to sport a new mainboard design meant to work with the 65-nanometer counterparts of its 90-nanometer CPU and GPU components. The smaller components are designed to use less power, thus distributing less heat and probably reducing console size.
The redesign presents consumers with a number of benefits, the most appealing having to do with consumers’ wallets. The new parts are rumored to cost less, setting the stage for a proper price cut, but perhaps the main reason for the rush of the redesign is the ridiculous failure rate of the current Xbox 360.
If Microsoft plays its cards right, it could have a very profitable holiday season. With Halo 3 on the horizon, a new console with a lower price would bring me to their side of the fence, and I know many penny pinching, die-hard Halo fans just waiting for enough incentives to pull out their wallets.

This is a religious “ps3″ psychotic answer. Microsoft give 3 years guarantee on this hardware so repair is free. So it’s an evil lie they have to buy another console. It’s just not true.

Here is a question to all the Xbox 360 owners. If MS has shipped 11.6 million consoles and their failure rate is 1/3, then how many actual people have an XBox 360. It sure as heck isn’t 11.6 million. It’s actully closer to 7 million and that’s being nice because I know of some people who are on their 2nd, 3rd, and even 4th 360.

Does the Xbox 360 eilite have the same problems as premium and the core system?
And if so will the falcon project be finished befor Halo 3 comes out?

The elite doens’t have the same problems as the premium and the core, but that doesn’t mean it won’t not fail for good. The elite has a different heatsink that many of the new Xboxs have nowadays

I’ve been reading about defects for almost an hour and it’s making me a little paranoid. I wanted to buy my boyfriend the 360 for our anniversary but now I’m wondering if I should wait? Since there hasn’t been anymore production since the first release, I can bet that no improvements have been made beyond the warranty extension. Is it even worth it? Do you guys with messed up consoles feel like it was a worthy purchase?

And no one has any proof or confirmation that the Falcon upgrade is happening, well, ever, is that right?
