Slim PSP hitting Europe before Japan and maybe America

By Danny Mendez

Slim PSP coming to Europe first

Sony Computer Entertainment of Europe President and CEO, David Reeves, says the redesigned, slim Sony PSP will hit PAL region stores in early September.

The new Sony PSP is supposed to be available in North America starting September 10th as a part of the Daxter Entertainment Pack, with a core pack coming later in September. With a Japanese release date of September 20th, Europe may finally feel some Sony love, possibly seeing the new PSP before the rest of the world.

“It will come out at 169 Euros,” said Reeves to an E3 audience, ”in all the PAL territories at the beginning of September.”

Skeptical about the situation, Gamesindustry.biz, contacted a Sony representative to confirm the statement. The Sony rep had the following to say:

“As David said in his speech last week, the new PSP will launch in early September and will be the same price as the existing one.”

Whether or not Europe will see the redesigned Sony PSP before the rest of the world is up to speculation for now, depending on how you interpret “the beginning of September”. I don’t consider the middle of the second week (September 10th) the beginning of September, so I’m happy that my Euro gaming brothers across the pond will finally feel just a little Sony love.
