Wal-Mart: $349 for an Xbox 360?
By Danny Mendez
In a recent loose-lips sink ships type debacle, an August Wal-Mart ad shows $349 for the price of a Microsoft Xbox 360 Premium.
A CheapAssGamer forum poster, DX, reports that Wal-Mart will soon sell Microsoft’s console for $50 less according to a picture he posted of an August ad. It’s unknown if this just a Wal-mart sale or an overall Microsoft price drop. The forum posters indicate that the ad is for the August 8th date. This is consistent with previous price drop rumors.
This could easily turn out to be a photoshop effort by an Internet prankster, and it may very well be as forum poster KingBroly points out that the Xbox 360 price is lacking the mini cents numbers next to the bigger dollar numbers in the ad; however, poster Ugamer_X informs us that the inconsistency in price format is common in Wal-Mart ads.
To see the current ad, which lasts until August 4th, go here. The ad shown below of the reduced Xbox 360 price is very consistent with the current ad on the Wal-Mart’s site.
Whatever the case may be, it may be best to wait until August 8th to buy an Xbox 360. It’s not far off and if the rumor turns out to be true, than I’ll just pretend that the wireless adapter cost me $50 less (as opposed to the console costing $50 less) and I’ll have the satisfaction of knowing I didn’t get ridiculously raped retail style for a USB wireless adapter. A bigger picture of the ad is posted below.
