Microsoft dropping Xbox 360 Core?

By Danny Mendez

Microsoft dropping Xbox 360 Core? Rumors are hitting the web that Microsoft may discontinue the Xbox 360 core model, but there is some (questionable) proof the rumors may be true.

With other rumors floating around the net that say the Xbox 360 will drop $50 in price, I’m sure many were hoping to grab a 360 for $250, but Microsoft may crush that dream.

Joystiq has pictures of the evidence on hand, which shows a description of the Core model and underneath it the word “deleted”. The picture also shows that Best Buy will no longer replenish their Xbox 360 Core stock via the circled “Y”, and the “Out Stock Date” reads 7-29-2007.  This may only mean that Best Buy is no longer going to sell the Xbox 360 Core model.

Microsoft responded to the gaming blog, denying the rumor when asked about the Xbox 360 Core model’s future. ”No. Xbox 360 Core remains an important member of the Xbox 360 family” Below you’ll find a picture of the Best Buy paper.

Whatever the case may be, we may discover the truth August 8th.
