As an outsider looking in to the gaming industry, I cannot help but note that the Nintendo Wii has placed itself in its own category, a category significantly different than the the group the PS3 and Xbox 360 find themselves in.

Sony Computer Entertainment of Europe President, David Reeves, says a summer price cut on the European PS3 would annoy people. What he doesn’t mention are the great advantages Sony gamers posses over their Nintendo and Xbox 360 counterparts, making a price war even more unlikely.

PS3 boss, David Reeves, brags that Sony’s saved their best for next month at the 2007 Games Convention in Leipzig, Germany. “There will be absolute fireworks at peak, that I can promise you. We will be doing things no-one has seen yet for both PS3 and PSP.”

Fans of the Nintendo Wii will tell you one of the best things about it are the controls. The Wiimote and motion sensor controls have been praised by Nintendo fans and reviewers ever since the console came out. Then there are others who think it’s not so great and that the console as a whole could be better.

In a move that may leave Nintendo fanboys crying, the company plans to kill the Game Boy once and for all. That’s not to say Nintendo is deserting the portable market. No, Nintendo will cease the use of the “Game Boy” brand, replacing it with the newer “DS” brand for future handhelds.
