No price cut for Wii despite pressure from PS3 Nintendo has said that the price cut by Sony on the PS3 will not affect its plans and there will be no price reduction on the Wii in the near future. The Wii costs $250 which is half the price of the (now) $500 60GB PS3. Though, the price cut on the PS3 isn’t really a price cut, it’s to sell the remaining 60GB PS3s which will then be replaced by the 80GB model for $600.

Sony screws Europe with PS3 price again? With the recent announcement in the US of a $100 price cut on the 60GB Sony Playstation 3, many Euro Sony supporters were left feeling under appreciated. Euro gamers already received the shaft when Sony provided only limited backwards compatibility in Euro PS3s due to cost cutting measures.

Sony is doing what Sony does best, cutting out its own market segment, losing money and generally making everyone unhappy.  The company recently announced a $100 price cut on the 60GB PS3 so it stood to reason that there would be two PS3 consoles on the US market, the 60GB for $499 and the 80GB for $599, not so, says Sony.

Buy a Sony PS3 now for only $499 After denying rumors that the PS3 would see a price cut, it seems that some stores are now selling the PS3 for $499 down from $599. Sony just as recently as yesterday said the PS3 would not see a price cut. That has not stopped some stores from offering the $499 price.

PS3 and Wii failure rate less than 1% Microsoft has taken a beating time and again for building the Xbox 360 with subpar components and poor construction. A number of gamers, current figures say around 33% are having problems with their Xbox 360 failing with the “red ring of death” syndrome. PS3 and Wii owners love life because those consoles have a failure rate of 1% or less.
