August 8, 2007: Microsoft will make announcement (about Xbox 360?)
All GameStop stores recently got an email providing some interesting details regarding a Microsoft announcement coming August 8. The email reads:
“On Wednesday, 8/8, all stores will receive signage directly from Microsoft and GameStop marketing & Creative Services to support an upcoming announcement. If for some reason you receive this early, please DO NOT display it until Wednesday, 8/8.”
The email comes form a couple of Joystiq tipsters, so let’s consider this just a rumor for now.
But if it were true, it could have something to do with the rumored death of the Xbox 360 Core model, but I doubt it. It could have something to do with a new Zune model as well, but I doubt that too. More likely it has something to do with the rumored Xbox 360 price drop coming August 8th. You don’t believe me? Then click here to check out a leaked Wal-Mart ad showing a price of $349 for the Xbox 360 Premium. I’ll admit the ad could be fake, but with so much evidence flying around, it has to be true.
Regardless of what you believe, it may be best to wait until next week to buy an Xbox 360 if you have plans to own one.
