August 8, 2007: Microsoft will make announcement (about Xbox 360?)
All GameStop stores recently got an email providing some interesting details regarding a Microsoft announcement coming August 8. The email reads:
“On Wednesday, 8/8, all stores will receive signage directly from Microsoft and GameStop marketing & Creative Services to support an upcoming announcement. If for some reason you receive this early, please DO NOT display it until Wednesday, 8/8.”
The email comes form a couple of Joystiq tipsters, so let’s consider this just a rumor for now. Â
But if it were true, it could have something to do with the rumored death of the Xbox 360 Core model, but I doubt it. It could have something to do with a new Zune model as well, but I doubt that too. More likely it has something to do with the rumored Xbox 360 price drop coming August 8th. You don’t believe me? Then click here to check out a leaked Wal-Mart ad showing a price of $349 for the Xbox 360 Premium. I’ll admit the ad could be fake, but with so much evidence flying around, it has to be true. Â
Regardless of what you believe, it may be best to wait until next week to buy an Xbox 360 if you have plans to own one.
