Official: Microsoft cuts Xbox 360 price to that of the Wii…
…but only in Britain. The long rumored UK Xbox 360 price cut for Bioshock’s release turned out true and takes effect August 24, 2007.
Computer and Video Games reports the Core pack will drop £20 to £179.99, and the Premium pack will shed £30 to £249.99. I don’t know if any of you have done the math yet, but £179.99 is the price of a Wii. The new price point also puts a £150 gap between the 360 and the PS3. Now that’s giving the Japanese a run for their money.
Microsoft also announced the release of the Xbox 360 Elite for the UK, which will retail for £299.99. The black, 120GB, HDMI wielding console will be available to the mass public on the 24th, Friday. The 120GB hard drive will also be available on it’s own for £129.99.
Man, even with price drops, those Brits really get screwed with pricing.

Its not really going to make much difference. On Amazon.co.uk the 360 hasnt been in the top 100 in video games for over a month (The Wii & PS3 are in the top 10) and the UK is its strongest market in Europe.

Now all they need is for their system to not die a third of the time.

Between your racism and Schlaffer’s poor grammar, I’m amazed your site even gets hits on Google News.
If the XBox price-dropped to the Wii price here in the States, I’d buy one without much hesitation.

Isn’t it the core system that would be the price of the Wii, so does that mean i cannot save my games? I am not sure of how the core 360 works, but my understanding was that you cant save the games on it (correct me if i am wrong).
…. fine I’ll miss out Halo 3 (which I was sooo looking forward to especially after the weird cliff hanger ending of Halo 2) … but one game doesn’t have to define a system
However, if its core 360 system that’s going to be the same price as the Wii, then I’d rather go with a Wii (still pondering the decision… PS3 being definitely ruled because of the big price tag… dont care for blue ray) for 2 main reasons:
1. The Wii doesn’t have any reliability issues (1 out 3 360s breaking is just totally unacceptable)
2. Wii is MORE fun

to boxworthy:
I’m sorry if I’ve offended you or anybody else with racism. I’m not sure how exactly I was being racist, but if you’re referring to the “Now that’s giving the Japs a run for their money” comment, I was simply referring to Nintendo and Sony who are Japanese companies that have other consoles out on the market as well. I could’ve said just “Sony and Nintendo” but I wanted to add a bit of style to the sentence.
I’m sorry if I offended you, but I didn’t think that was offensive at all. I didn’t make fun of anybody and I didn’t put anybody down. I simply brought up the home country of Nintendo and Sony, Microsoft’s competitors.

If Microsoft wasn’t such a monopolistic leech, the xbox 360 would be worth the buy, but one pact with the Vista devil is enough for me.

From Wikipedia:
“The term Jap is used in English as an abbreviation of the word “Japanese.” Today it is usually used as an ethnic slur, though English speaking countries differ in the degree they consider the term offensive. Most people of Japanese descent in these countries consider it offensive.”
Does that answer your question Danny? I know you didnt mean to be offensive, just thought I would let you know…
