Microsoft sends out replacement parts for Wireless 360 Steering Wheel

By Sean P. Aune

Microsoft sends out replacement parts for Wireless 360 Steering Wheel It would seem Microsoft has taken the term “burning up the racetrack” a little too literally.

In another case of over-heating products from the Redmond, WA based gaming/computer company, Microsoft is going to be sending out replacement parts for its wireless steering wheel controller.

The company has received some 50 reports of the controller emitting smoke when it is plugged in.  They are instructing owners of the peripheral not to plug it in, but there should be no problems of running it off of battery power.  It is estimated that 230,000 of the steering wheel have been sold to work with games such as Forza Motorsport 2, Dirt, and NASCAR 2008.

This news follows close on the heels of Microsoft admitting there was a problem with the 360’s over-heating, and taking a $1 billion dollar hit as they extend the systems warranty to three years to cover it.  This time around it is considered a precautionary measure as there have been no reports of fire or property damage.

Consumers wishing to receive replacement parts may go to the Xbox support page or call 1-800-4MY-XBOX for further details.
