After every gaming site on the planet lauded BioShock’s gameplay, graphics, environment, physics and AI but at the same time were angry and annoyed about several limitations of the game. The widescreen ratio problem which chops portions of the viewable area off as opposed to adjusting to the true 16:9 ratio and the two install limitation, new patches to be issued by 2K Games itself will address both issues.

The July NPD numbers are finally in, and it looks like it was a good month for everybody with industry sales totaling $925.5 million, up 37% year-over-year.

Screenshots of a new Nintendo Wii game have been circulating around and if you thought normal Wii games looked “bad” (I know I do) well this game makes them all look good. Many have been comparing it to N64 graphics and that’s about the size of it, if not worse.

If you’re looking to buy a Wii, chances are you haven’t found one. Even when it becomes available, you have to worry about those pesky Ebay sellers who show up everywhere the console appears to buy and then sell it at a higher price. But I know how you can find one, and you may not have to pay double the price to do so.

It was only a matter of time before someone began tearing down the walls between DirectX 9 and DirectX 10 renders in BioShock. There isn’t a huge difference but there is some and you know what, I’ll take it. Given more time, DirectX 10 renders will make DirectX 9 look like the same level of ugly that DirectX 8 and DirectX 7 are today.

Now that BioShock is out and has been lauded as the best game of the decade, possibly century, selling out at several retail and online stores, its problems are coming to be known. As with all things, the issues are not as bad as they first appear but are still worthy to note.

US PS3 owners, don’t expect to see this add-on available in the US any time soon. In early 2008 PS3 owners in the UK, France, Italy, Germany and Spain will be able to turn their machine into a TV tuner and personal video recorder (PVR) with Sony’s new PlayTV.
