$399.99 40GB Playstation 3 to hit this Holiday Season
Is Sony finally getting the hint that $600 for a gaming console is not OK? If this rumor of a $399.99 Playstation 3 is true, they may begin to regain their foothold in the next generation gaming market.
A reliable source just reported in to Opposable Thumbs to let them know that Sony’s changing up their Playstation offerings for the Holiday Season. Shockingly, Sony is planning to drop past their previous $500 low and venture all the way down to well within the limits of pricing for the Xbox 360. Here’s what the new setup should look like:
- $499.99 for the 80GB Playstation 3, currently $599.99
- $399.99 for the 40GB Playstation 3, currently nonexistent
- Spider-Man 3 on Blu-ray included with at least one of the PS3 packages
- $99.99 for the Playstation 2, currently $129.99
A $400 Playstation 3 can easily give the Xbox 360 Premium or Elite a run for its money, although Sony will have a hard time convincing gamers to get a PS3 with Halo 3 in the mix this Holiday Season. But with games like Warhawk and Metal Gear Solid 4 hitting now and soon, respectively, it’s getting increasingly harder for gamers to choose just one side in today’s next generation console war.

this is an old news. M$’s executive has a bet with newsweek’s nGai on PS3’s new SKU come with 40gig hard disk at 400 dollars.
This bet doesn’t make sense because the cost of 40 gig and 80gig PS3 is only few dollars different. Sony won’t do it beside multiple Sku like 360 is just confuse.

Theres rumors spreading about a 40gig ps3 well if its not true then WHY IN THE WORLD IS IT SPREADING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but if it is true than they might have something.
