Holiday Season fighting words: Microsoft says Xbox 360 will rule Christmas
UK Xbox 360 marketing manager, Dan Cornelius, is writing checks he may not be able to cash in the currency of the success of Microsoft’s console this Holiday Season.
I’ll just let the words speak for themselves, so here’s his latest set of fighting words courtesy of Digital Spy:
"With the launch of Elite and these price drops, the delta between Xbox 360 and PS3 in terms of value for money gets broader."
"It certainly puts us in a better position than our competitors going into the Christmas market."
"We now have a very powerful, high definition console at the same price point as Wii. That will really open the door to a broad audience going into Christmas."
And last but not least, he throws one directly at Sony, praising his console for not making consumers ""foot a huge bill for technology they don’t need."
Those are bold words, and they’re going to be hard to live up to if the rumor of a $400 PS3 turns out to be true.

The 360 will be outsold by the Wii and PS2 this Christmas. Given that it’s now being outsold by the PS3 worldwide every week it will probably also be outsold by that with the new price cuts coming. There simply isnt the same demand for the console that there is for the Wii and PS3.

Halo3. And yes that will be a console seller. Also don’t forget about Mass Effect either.

The wII will probably be the biggest seller as its allready selling extremely well & lots of fun family games for it.
The Xbox360 will be the second biggest seller due to its great value for money on a true gamers console with the largest selection of great games.
The PS3 offers nothing more than the Xbox360 but at a much higher pricepoint & has few games (let alone good ones).

The ps3 is very obviously superior in graphics AND game lineup to that of the xbox red ring 360. Microsoft is scrambling because they know they messed aup by producing a system with no hard drive(core) and a standard dvd format (9gigr) versus bluray (50 gig) Thus you get games like the multi disc blue dragon!! heavenly sword for ps3 looks way better and fits on ONE blu ray. According to VGChartz the 360 has been down in 6th place in worldwide console sales for the last 2 weeks behind the DS, Wii, PSP, PS3 & PS2.
I’m not sure where being beaten in worldwide weekly sales by Sony’s 8 year old console over 2 years after the 360’s release fits into Microsoft’s game plan lol
