Halo 3 release causes Microsoft’s Xbox 360 to outsell Nintendo Wii
By Jonathan Schlaffer
If anyone is surprised by that headline, don’t be. Should it really come as a surprise that the release of the year sold additional Xbox 360 consoles and pushing both the game and the console to the top of the charts for the week? Well, it is and Nintendo should take notice.
The release of Halo 3 for the Xbox 360 sold 2.63 million copies in the first five days with 2.3 million of them accounted for in the first day. Xbox 360 hardware sales were at 125,000 units for the week, selling more than the Nintendo Wii. VGCartz has the details.
Of course, it didn’t overtake DS hardware but comparing a toy of a handheld to a real console is a crime, they’d be on separate charts if I had my way.
That speaks volumes not only about the gaming market but also about people which will gravitate toward the best thing and the Xbox 360 plus a copy of Halo 3 is almost the best thing in the universe, okay, second best thing in the universe.
No doubt some of those Xbox 360s sold were the Halo 3 Edition but all of them couldn’t have been so what were all those other people waiting for and they can’t even “finish the fight yet” as they have to go back and play Halo and Halo 2, you’re just spoiling the whole thing if you play Halo 3 first.
Go, Microsoft, go, put the Wii back where it belongs, today we march to victory! Then there is also Mass Effect which in a perfect universe would also sell more Xbox 360s, my hope is that it will.

This wont last. Halo 3 will sell really well and it is a fantastic game. However once the hype wears off, the 360 will go back to its original sales…ahead of ps3 (good thing) behind the Wii. Its simple really, the Wii isnt in competition with the 360, the price point puts them in seperate battles so stop being a 360 twat and enjoy the games.

Jonathan ’shock jock’ Schlaffer shares more of his very personal views there… thanks Jonathan… I’m sure I speak for all of us.
Aside from being gaming’s version of a gossip column journalist, Jonathan’s obvious love of the Nintendo Wii shows itself in every one of his postings. Jonathan… you’re in the closet about your love for the Wii and I think I’m the first to out you. Halo 3 has driven hardware sales… yet somehow Jonathan still manages to squeeze the Wii into the story - he even put ‘Wii’ in his headline so it would get more hits.
Jonathan, despite your best efforts as a journalist you can’t stop the Wii from continuing to be one of the most enjoyable and culturally relevant gaming experiences since the original Gameboy or PS1. The Wii is here to stay now Jonathan. Lets just all talk about the games and how much we love them and stop whining on and on about how technically inferior the Wii is.
Besides, everyone knows you’re secretly a Wiiphile… it’s okay to admit it.

“put the wii back where it belongs”. In my opinion the only place the Wii belongs is right next to your 360 and PS3.Thats only if your a gamer as opposed to an arrogant, ignorant, uneducated opinionated fanboy.

Look, I just write biased articles because I can’t get a real job. I am not a real journalist because if I was I would follow a code of ethics. In anycase, I’m just a fag. I do love the wii, but when microsoft comes to you and offers you $10.50 to write a biased article, it is pretty hard to say no.

Wow, this writer is a real idiot. I think thats the word for this. I can’t believe Microsoft is paying people for good reviews.

Hey guys, maybe we should actually congradulate Jonathan Schlaffer. Although he probably didn’t mean to, HE ACTUALLY ADMITTED that it takes games, not graphics, to make a great counsle.
So, if Nintendo succeeds in increasing the production in Wiis, we should see the Wii outselling the XBox 360, right?

That is just like congratulating a member of the special olympics for throwing a ball two feet. So, I guess if he is challenged, yes we should congratulate him.

I’m sorry, but I just had to laugh. I do congratulate the 360 on outselling the wii by 25,000 for a month. If only they weren’t behind in total sales, and the Wii hadn’t come out a year later :/
Besides, when Super Smash Brothers Brawl releases, Wii sales will bury that of Halo 3 for the month.
