Wii boss: Halo 3 won’t save the Xbox 360
The president of Nintendo of America, Reggie Fils-Aime, has lashed out at Microsoft saying it’s unlikely Halo 3 will help sell Xbox 360 hardware.
However his comments were made before the latest sales figures came in, which show that Xbox 360 is now outselling the Wii.
Fils-Aime told the Mercury News, that while he expected Microsoft to sell a lot of software, he considers it was an “open question” about whether Microsoft will sell more hardware,
“I think the Halo 3 consumer already has the hardware, because they’re playing Bioshock and Crackdown and a variety of games that are, in the end, quite similar: first-person shooter experience, multiplayer capable online,” said Fils-Aime. ”Tell me what’s new?”
When asked whether he needed to counter Halo 3 in some way, Fils-Aime arrogantly replied:
“I am fortunate to have a series of [games] that are all going to drive substantial sales for me and are all targeted to different parts of the consumer mix.”
Mr big-mouth Fils-Aime may have to eat his words. As already mentioned, the most recent sales figures show that Halo 3 has indeed boosted sales of the Xbox 360.
While it’s too early to tell whether the sales boost will be sustained, it’s certainly a shot in the arm for Xbox 360 fans who are sick of hearing about the phenomenal success of the Wii.
Perhaps with games like Halo 3 coming out — games that showcase what decent hardware can do – gamers will start to realize that the Wii’s technical compromises will indeed limit their gaming experience.

“gamers will start to realize that the Wii’s technical compromises will indeed limit their gaming experience”
I really couldn’t care about technical compromises, it’s comments like this that limit my gaming experience.

I think both camps could benefit eachother. If I had a xbox360 with wii like controlls it would be the best console EVER
So hopefully the next wii has hd, shader model 3 etc etc and hopefully xbox takes the controller scheme from the wii for a kickass first person shooter experience.

I think you’re the only big mouth here, Mr. Pospisil.

I can’t help my personal bias’. As revealed by John on the comments of: http://gamer.blorge.com/2007/10/03/halo-3-release-causes-microsofts-xbox-360-to-outsell-nintendo-wii/
We get paid for this. I know, I know, it sounds a little Fox News, but I have to eat. Starving is a horrible SOB. All hail lord Microsoft, whose money is taken from gamers and given to journalists.

From the article: “gamers will start to realize that the Wii’s technical compromises will indeed limit their gaming experience.”
If that’s true, then I guess we were all having less fun gaming last generation, and the generation before that must have been even worse. And continuing this trend, the Atari wasn’t even fun, and those Tiger handheld games were methods of torture.

The last comment of that article is the most shit-eating, biased line of stupidity that I have laid my eyes upon in at least a month. Worse than Reggie’s arrogance.

I suppose that we should be laughing now? Yeah, you’re about as funny as a puppy dying from aids.
Oh one more thing: Watch the sales decline back behind the Wii next month when everyone realizes that Halo 4 won’t be out for another two years.
Also, Nintendo has three monsters to do more than overshadow Halo 3 this year: Super Mario Galaxy, Mario & Sonic, Super Smash Brothers Brawl. Three big Marios. Oh yeah, let’s not forget Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles, Nights, No More Heroes, and Soul Calibur Legends peaking from around the corner.
Yeah, have fun with that.

Yes, all hail Lord Microsoft. We are talking about the best system that has ever came out. Aside from 1 out of 3 of them failing and not making a profit. It is a good system. Sure, sometimes they freeze constantly and Microsoft won’t fix them even though they don’t work properly, but Xbox live is great even though there is constant glitching and people will appear right in front of you out of the sky. I will continue to write my support for the 360.

John Pospisil = XBOT
It’s one thing to like the 360, and another to be a complete tool.

Oh yeah, well Wii fit will…..no wait….Wii Play…no…..wii sports….errrrr……wait a minute, Nintendo has absolutely no games coming out for the system or has any games currently for the system. I own all three systems and I have to say that I haven’t touched my Wii in months. Seriously, I play a little heavenly sword for the PS3 but Halo 3, Forza, Bioshock, Mass Effect, Call of Duty 4, Army of Two, Halo Wars, Dirt, with the addition of Xbox Live…..Wii’s Play, Sport, Mama Cook Off, and thousands of other kid/party games have nothing on MS. Everyone needs to stop believing all the hype the media feeds them, Nintendo created false demand and hype and can’t back it up a year later. Don’t get me wrong, all the next gen systems suck (if you count the Wii as next gen…I don’t) but if you have to go with one of them go with the 360.

Kmach, you’re an imbecile.
Wii has plenty of games out, and plenty more on the horizon. You name all those games that you play on 360, but all of them are essentially catered to one demographic: young adult males. I’m not saying that is wrong, but what I am saying is that the Wii caters to far more types of people than you, and THAT is why it can and will beat 360. The hype is not fake, the demand is not fake; Wii appeals to more people than the hardcore gamer and that’s why it is selling.
You also seem to dismiss Nintendo’s biggest franchises as ‘kids party games’. What about Metroid, Smash Bros, Pokemon, Zelda, and of course, MARIO? Nintendo have more successful gaming franchises than anything Microsoft has to offer. These are the games that have kept Nintendo alive for the past 25 years. With games such as Mario Galaxy (easily a system seller) and Smash Bros on the horizon, especially leading up to Christmas, Wii is bound to surpass 360 in sales into the new year.

wii is for beginners. Sony is for people that like playing sequals of old games and that like being constantly overpromissed and underdelivered too. Xbox 360 is for gamers
October 5th, 2007
I mean really, all I play is FPS (first person shooters). They are they only games that patter. Gamers only play FPS. I jsut think they are the best. Xbox 369 is where it is at.

nostopdeath, you too are an imbecile if you think that real gamers only play FPS.
If you are a ‘real gamer’ as you claim, you would own at least two consoles in every generation and enjoy playing games from a variety of different genres. Any so-called ‘gamer’ who does not play, or at least has no respect for Nintendo’s first party titles are not real gamers at all. Anyone who knows quality games when they see them will agree that Nintendo have, and continue to produce some of the greatest games of all time. Nintendo would not be here today if their games were sh!t because it is their games that drive their system sales.
My second point is that if only real gamers play FPS, then Wii should be the real gamers ultimate console, because it quite simply has the greatest FPS control scheme of all time. Play Metroid and you will understand.

nostopdeath, I truly hope you were sarcastic.
Define a real gamer. Someone who plays only on PS3? On X0? No, it is someone who plays games as he sees fit.
Then again, there are THE pro’s… Let us not talk about them.

I agree with the fact that it will not be hard for the Wii to catch up. In a case like this, with Microsoft paying for articles like this (so I don’t blame any of the article writers), I’ll give my article free of charge:
If Halo 3–one game–a popular game (aimed at people who love to kill) that didn’t come out for two years, can cause XBox 360 to come ahead of the Wii, partially because Microsoft had an extra year and is able to produce more 360s, think of what SEVERAL cool Nintendo games for practically everybody will do, especially if Nintendo succeeds in increasing Wii production.
