This past year has seen one of the bloodiest fought battles in console history starting to take shape, with all three major players having consoles on the market, and good games starting to be released for all of them. How did each of the big three fair in 2007?

Microsoft’s Xbox 360 continues to struggle in Japan, actually seeing a sales decrease during the hectic holiday week from the week prior, and once again being obliterated by both the PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Wii.

Sony had been offering this only to the good citizens of Australia but now it seems the company has seen, at least, half a light and is offering the same thing to residents of the States. Of course, there are a few more restrictions on the offer.

Nintendo has had a firm hold of the Japanese gaming market almost non-stop since the launch of the Wii in November, 2006. The only true competition to the Wii’s dominance at the top of Japanese sales has come from another Nintendo product, the DS. But now Nintendo’s 1-2 combo has been broken by Sony, as its PSP handheld has outsold the Wii.
