PS3 boss says Wii "a bit short on hardware"
In a stinging attack against rival Nintendo, Sony chairman Sir Howard Stringer has said that he is happy that the Wii is “a bit short on hardware”, obviously referring to the Wii’s well-known lack of grunt. He also admitted that there was some question about whether the PlayStation 3 (PS3) would make it through this “early part of the cycle”.
However, he now thinks that the PS3 will play an important role in Sony’s overall recovery.
“We’ve some catching up to do, but at least we have the opportunity to connect the PS3 with the PlayStation Portable and beyond,” Stringer told the Guardian.
Stringer’s new-found confidence comes in the wake of news that in November, PS3 outsold the Wii in Japan, 183,000 units sold, compared to 159,000 units.
“I’m happy the Wii seems to be running a bit short of hardware,” said Stringer.
“The PlayStation 3 will come into its own because its games are infinitely more fun, demanding and exciting.
“The question people quite rightly asked was if the PS3 was going to get through this early cycle. I feel much more confident about that now.”
As the saying goes, “one swallow does not make a summer”. One good month of PS3 sales in Japan does not mean that the struggling console has turned the corner, nor does it mean that games developers are going to suddenly start developing more titles.
Yes, it is a good sign that the PS3 is making progress, but’s far too early for the PS3 boss to be making smug remarks at Wii’s expense.

Proof?
Come on, what happened to all the children’s games that Playstation used to do? As far as I know, there are NO games, besides sports and racing, that appeal to more than teenage boys for the PS3. Feel free to correct me if I’m missing something.
Sony has no right to be saying this right now–it never stops making stories without proof. WHY IS SONY SO UPSET ABOUT OTHER PEOPLE DOING THE SAME THING?
More fun? More exciting? More dmanding? Get a life, Sony! You were doing great, but you tried to be the best to hard-core gamers (instead of everyone) and just aren’t willing to eat humble pie and say “Okay, I goofed, let’s make this fun for everyone.”

PLAYSTATION 3 will always have better graphics, better games better everything. Wii is competing with PS2 lol we got power to destroy everyone have seen all the new PS3 games come out next year they all top notch.

While i agree the PS3 is a better console Ivan_PSP listed games that arent out yet. many of which havent been played (GTA/Killzone) the fact is PS3 and nintendo arent realy competing because they go for different markets. People who buy PS3 care about the power of their console. nintendo buyers not so much

N64 was, in it’s time, the best console ever. Hands down.
