PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii all fall to the side compared to DS sales

PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii all fall to the side compared to DS sales With the press of advertising trying to ply you into buying the one gaming system above all others, many people forget that the Gameboy DS is also a competitor in this attempt to wins sales.  One look tells us that the DS is not only a player in this game, but at the top of it as well.

Nintendo’s handheld system has had a good foothold within gaming for many years. Although the two newest variations, the Nintendo Gameboy DS released in 2004 and the Nintendo Gameboy DS Lite released in 2006, have captured the attention of hardcore and casual gamers alike.  With a record breaking of units sold during Thanksgiving weekend in 2005 with 600,000 units, the DS has not seen any contenders threaten its record until 2007 when the DS Lite broke that with a whooping 650,000 units sold on that same weekend.

With strong sales all through 2007, the DS has sold more than 6 million units from January 1st to November 30th in the United States and is expected to top out in first place this season.

"There’s no letup in sight," says George Harrison, Nintendo of America’s senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications. "Nintendo DS appeals strongly to both core and casual gamers, and its momentum is set to propel us into 2008."

With its top four games each selling more than four million copies each, and the top following 8 titles each doing more than a million copies sold, it’s no wonder that the Nintendo DS is doing so well.  Its high demand is only propelled forward with Nintendo’s success at widening its user market.

Don’t be surprised this year when final sales numbers come out and the DS is on top, even if most won’t mention the high numbers against traditional consoles.

I read “Gameboy DS” and just stopped. Fail.

I really hate these articles, on gamer blorge. There just never seems to be any research or anything but the occasional quote behind them. It just hardly seems that the author even knows what he/she is talking about half the time. For example “Nintendo Gameboy DS” is a product that does not exist. A simple look at wikipedia will show that the product is entitled simply “Nintendo DS” or “Nintendo DS Lite”. Nintendo decided to drop the GameBoy trademark from its latest handheld. Also, while this article certainly isn’t the worst I’ve seen, sometimes the grammar is just horrible, and when I see spelling mistakes, well…
