Sony Australia offers free PS3s with Bravia HDTVs

By Jonathan Schlaffer

Sony Australia offers free PS3s with Bravia HDTVs In what is very likely a bid to increase PS3 market share and make Blu-Ray look good, Sony Australia will be giving away a free 40GB PS3 with certain Sony 1080P HDTVs.  The true motive, however, may never be known.

The company wants you to pair that XBR, X or W Bravia series HDTV with its PS3 and handing the consoles out with a TV, is a good way to start.  If a little late, something similar was already done in the UK but was retailer specific.

Keep in mind that this offer is only good in Australia and is only good on the 1080p capable models listed, according to Cnet AU.

The 40-inch W Bravia series starts at AU$2,999 and the 40GB PS3 costs AU$699.  Spend upwards of $2,000 on an HDTV and get a PS3 for free, not a bad deal but it could be better.

How about tossing in about five Blu-Ray titles of your choice to sweeten the pot, well Sony?
