Xbox live users to be compensated with free arcade game
For those of you not following this at all, Microsoft’s Xbox live service experienced two weeks of intermittent service where some users were unable to logon or got disconnected from the service.
Despite rumors that this downtime was due to a DoS (Denial of Service) attack that occurred for almost two straight weeks, that is not the case.
What happened is that a lot of new users signed up for the service over the holidays and tons of existing subscribers signed on as well, in other words, there were just a lot of people online at the same time and the system had trouble handling the traffic.
In an open letter to the community, Marc Whitten, the general manager of Xbox Live apologizes for the downtime and all Xbox live gold and silver subscribers will be given a free Xbox live arcade game, details on that are forthcoming.
