Bill Gates claims new 360s more reliable than PS3, Wii
The 360 has long been infamous for being ridden with problems and malfunctions; even the biggest fanboys have succumbed to weeping and gnashing of teeth when their systems were ravaged by the red ring of death. However, poster boy for Microsoft, Mr. Bill Gates, is sure that, with recent improvements to the quality of the 360, the 360 will be the most reliable console on the market.
These words of assurance came in an interview with the BBC; Billy boy spoke of the recent issues with the 360 (ok, not even recent…these “issues,” as the man who has made millions off the success of poorly manufactured consoles likes to call them), and the subsequent issuing of an extended warranty back in the summer of last year.
Though Bill admitted the console’s problems have been a serious issue, he said that he and the company feel very confident in the quality they are now building into the new 360’s (hopefully that means the consoles Microsoft continues to send out to customers who experience console failures, not just the ones willing to drop money on a new Elite system), and that they are committed to it being the most reliable console out there.
My vote is out on the manner; I recently sent back my 360 due to a red ring, and received a replacement unit. I can tell you they didn’t include the more efficient upgrades that are being built into the “new” one like the different hardware, so whether or not Bill is just looking for more money from users stupid enough to buy new consoles to replace the old shiny crap Bill sold them in the first place is up for debate.

By ‘new ones’ he is obviously talking about the ones that have not been released yet and as such have not had a chance to break down.
The 360 will never have a failure rate as low as the PS3 because the PS3’s rate is 0.02% while the 360’s is at least 5% and could eve be higher than 10%.
That means that at least a million 360’s have gone tits up compared to only a few thousand PS3’s.
The new 360 would have to have a zero failure rate and sell a few billion more consoles to get their average lower than the PS3 lol

ok w/e bill. i cant trust this guy no matter what. he just doesnt know how to make hardware. yes we all use windows (whcih im using now) and it seems to work fine…but when it come to harware, there’re cave men. so ya, sony and nintendo are all hardware!! they know what to do!! not ms, there all software.

Rumor is 33% failure rate. This mean at least 4 millions Xbox360 is defected. This will take at least half year to a full half year to phrase all them out.
360 RROD issues is also a management issue. Sony has inhouse manufacture capacity which they can highly control in both price and quality. On the other hand, 360 is outsource manufacturers who won the contract as lowest bidder which M$ can’t control directly.
M$ is a software company who don’t want to get their hands dirty by invest heavily in hardware area.

I still get at my gamestop store an average of 6 broken 360’s a week. and out of the box of at least 20 360’s opened at xmas a red ring of death. So Bill Gates is just postponing the inevitable demise of the 360!

And Sony only made walkmans and TVs before the PS. What exactly is your point? Maybe that Microsoft should have stuck to operating systems and Sony to portable tape players.

So, if Microsoft shipped 8million the first year, and 7 million the second year, that’s 15 million x-box 360 unit shipped, compared to about 7-8 million PS3 units. (Yes, I know the numbers are not exact). It looks like there has been about a 33% failure rate on the 360’s, and Microsoft has been replacing all of the failures. This means Microsoft has sold probably closer to 10 million units. Then 3 million fail and are replaced, then another 1 million of those fail and are replaced. Interesting that in the first two years Microsoft has just barely sold more units than Sony has in the first year.
Of course, if the failure rate is lower then they have sold more, but by the blogs and news I’ve read it seems close to the 1 out of 3 failure rate.

Bill Gates is an idiot just saying such a stupid thing everyone knows Xbox 360 has major hardware problems either Red Ring of Death or over heating or Xbox Live Crashing software also. Xbox 360 is just bad at everything don’t it HD DVD is dead PS3 is the way to go if you want secure perfect and perfect exclusive that won’t be available on PC like all Xbox exclusive. Sony will destroy Microsoft this year with Google.

Ive heard the 360 is made in China, though im not positive of this. If this is true, no wonder. Nothing of exeptional quality is made in china lately. And yes, 360 has abysmal failure rates.

I have heard some stupid statements in recent times, but @adam’s comment above ranks right up there with them.
I can assure you that Sony have made considerably MORE than just Walkmans, TVs and Play Stations in their long history. Just do a little research and get educated!

it’s sad that none of these 360’s are out yet, but bill has alot of dis-trust on his word. he has to prove it by putting them in a sauna and freezer for 36 hours, then we’ll see, until then it’s just talk.
