Sony follows Wii and Xbox 360 with white PS3 coming to US, Europe

Sony follows Wii and Xbox 360 with white PS3 coming to US, Europe The color white is supposed to make rooms look larger, black is supposed to make them look smaller but I’m not sure what the effect on console size is.  Nintendo has always made the Wii in white but may be offering additional colors in the future, the Xbox 360 is white save for the Halo 3 edition and now here comes Sony offering its white PS3 to the US, UK and Europe.

Following it success in Japan with the white PS3, Sony has decided that it’s time to offer that version to the rest of the world.  It features the 40GB hard drive and comes with one white dual-shock controller.

The black model isn’t going anywhere but now we’ll have two color choices, a black PS3 or (ceramic) white PS3, I suppose it’s only a matter of time before a pink PS3 comes along or Colorware begins offering any color PS3 you want.  According to DigitalSpy, Sony sold nearly 800,000 PS3s in North America in December.

What worked for one company (Apple and it’s black and white iPod line of yore) may work for another.  Companies just aren’t following trends if their top tier products don’t come in black or white, will this help or hurt the PS3?

The good thing about the white version is that it won’t show dust as badly as the black version does but then how will you know when to clean it?

The PS3 is still the best value when it comes to features for the price, Blu-Ray, WiFi, free online service, the ability to boot Yellow Dog Linux (and function as a computer), HDMI, excellent graphics, try hacking the pitiful excuse for a console that is the Wii to do that.

Just because the Wii is the most popular doesn’t mean it is the best (and it isn’t).  I will only own two consoles, a Xbox 360 (for exclusive titles) and a PS3 (primarily for use as a Blu-Ray player and gaming on the side and it’s still well worth just the Blu-Ray ability alone).  As for titles, the PS3 does have a few worth playing but more are due out this year so it will just get even better, which color (console) are you?

Just leave the Wii out of this. We know you hate it.

Comparing it in terms of “White Wii seems to be successful, so maybe PS3 white will help” is one thing, but comparing it in a matter unrelated to the article is another. Aka STICK TO THE ARTICLE. Your last two paragraphs were unncessary.

A good news article is just that–news. If one is going to give opinions, one should say “It’s my opinion that…”–you make it seem like the PS3 WILL get better. (I’m not saying your wrong, but you’re saying “I’m right.” So if the PS3 doesn’t do better, let’s say humble pie for dessert?)

PS3 in white looks like a kitchen appliance to me, unlike Wii and XBOX 360 despite having the same color.

sony said that it will hab 3 colors:black, white and gray;long before wii was a name.

    Can anyone say “FANBOY”?

    Yeah you’re extremely uninformed.
Xbox 360 has black – The Elite.

    “pitiful excuse for a console”
I’d hardly call the wii that, it has a good selection of games, Mario galaxy (GOTY on many sites inc IGN), actually does something new instead of just making things prettier. It’s a superb console, its BC and downloadable service is great too. I love the virtual console

Microsoft copy Sony with the Elite by making it black and the disc tray shiny copycats. Sony first showed a Gray White and black PLAYSTATION 3 so they are following them self not others.
