Man convicted for killing daughter over broken Xbox 360

By Jonathan Schlaffer

Man convicted for killing daughter over broken Xbox 360 We reported on this just this morning.  Tyrone Spellman aka Anwar Salahuddin was accused of killing his 17-month old daughter for breaking his Xbox 360  and has been found guilty by a Pennsylvania jury.

In the trial, the prosecution blamed his obsession with playing Xbox 360 games.  They said he played games upwards of six hours per day but that’s hardly a true “obsession.”  As I pointed out in the previous post, many teens and twenty-somethings will play for eight or more hours given enough free time to do so.

Six hours a day is not an obsession.  When his 17-month old daughter pulled the Xbox 360 over, it was damaged and he beat her to death over it.  During an interrogation by police he did admit to beating her but said he had not intended to kill her.  Had she not died, it’s very likely he would still have been arrested for child abuse.

The defense tried to play the card that he was covering for the child’s mother who had been known to neglect her.  It turns out my prediction came to pass.  I all but said he would be found guilty of the crime and here we are with him being found guilty.

According to Spong, Spellman faces 23 to 47 years in prison.  Of course, even that sentence, is just a little too good for him.  I’m sure his future prison buddies will be very close friends with him.

You predicted he was going to be found guilty? You are a genius! Why are you wasting time writing on Blorge when there are so many unsolved mysteries out there?

    2. Jonathan:

“All but said” is not a 100% accurate prediction.

…Six hours a day is not an obsession”

      It is you fat ass.

It is an obsession when YOU’RE A FATHER OF A 17 MONTH OLD KID. I mean, this guy had to work, no? 9 to 5 at least, that means he worked 8 hours. Add another couple of hours for driving to and from work, some more hours eating and taking care of nature (taking a shower, a piss a dump, etc.) and you have a guy who no longer can afford to sit his fat ass on a couch for 6-8 hours like he did as a dumb kid.

And because you’re no longer a teenager nor a momma’s boy living in your mother’s basement (like Mr. Schlaffer here) then you should cut back on those gaming hours.

Man, why do they still allow this Schlaffer guy to post here? Didn’t he said the Wii was like dead back in 2006? It’s 2008 and it’s still selling you ASS! LOL

The Schlaffer guy and the Mcintyre guy (or girl, I am not 100% sure by the pic they put up) really should not call themselves journalists.

I never take what they say seriously, I only come here for a laugh.

I am beginning to get the feeling that Blorge is a little like that satirical site, Sony Defense Force. Only problem is that SDF is actually funny.

its guys like him who give video games and gamers a bad rep. fuckin idiot, learn how to control yourself.

    6. Dr. Gonzo:

I would say anytime someone is willing to kill someone over video games that it qualifies as obsession, no matter how much or how little they play in a day.

    7. zpsychoback:

If this guy is guilty, I hope he fries. No idiot should kill a baby over a stupid video game system. Something was clearly wrong with him to have done something so stupid to kill an innocent child, let alone his own. I hope he gets the death penalty–and dies a slow death. No parent who kills his or her child deserves otherwise.

    8. Shell:

Who cares if 6 hours or 12 hours is an obsession for playing games. That isn’t the point of this sad story. A child is dead, who cares how long he played a game. Wow, we are really desensitized as a society. Very sad.

    9. will:

i definately agrre that there was somat wrong with this son of a B***T

i think that will count as murder and he will die
he deserves it, but will they allow him to get the 360 repaired???????
      they should
      SCREW THE KID!!!

    10. Laura:

Who cares? Well, listen… every damn day a child dies for whatever reason. Cancer. Drunk driver crashing into a pedestrian with kid. You get the idea.

With kids dying from cancer, people formed organizations to fight it. There are children hospitals all over doing just that. With drunk drivers, you have M.A.D.D. trying to prevent kids from getting killed.

With a gigantic asshole like the one that played 6 hours a day despite being a parent and having to support his family, we understand that he was way to emotional and obssessive over his videogames.

So… if it matters if people get drunk and run over kids… if it matters that cancer kills kids every year…. then it must matter that obsssessive gamers who are parents are killing their kids over their little hobby.

      Yeah, so sad… eh? Pffft!

god, i am glad i am just a casual gamer, i mean, you can’t get more hardcore than someone that kills his own daughter over a videogame. i’m proud father of a 2 month old girl, and just this morning tried to play some mario Galaxy while she was sleeping, 3 minutes later she woke up, and i enjoy playing with her way more than i enjoy mario Galaxy. guys be a little nicer with johnatan, he si just trying to do his job, poorly, but trying.
