The majority of games released these days are multi-platform, getting released on at least two of the major consoles at roughly the same time. This is especially true of this generation’s PS3 and Xbox 360, but which console does the best job with these games?

Nintendo is not beyond the reach of the law and neither are its suppliers. Hitachi and Sharp both supply screens for the company’s popular DS handheld gaming console. They have been accused of price fixing the displays and are under investigation by Japan’s Fair Trade Commission.

For techies and internet junkies, CEOs and their antics are much more exciting to follow than those celebs over in Hollywood, mainly because there is so much drama that CEOs spew forth one can hardly leave the internet and break from the excitement. Well the latest CEO to step up to the baseless accusation plate is none other than the CEO of Dreamworks, who soooo went there: video games are hurting the sales of movies!

It’s official, the Xbox 360 HD-DVD drive is now the bargain basement price of $49.99, just a few days ago it would have cost between $120 and $130. The move comes as Blu-Ray has won the format war and there is no longer a real demand for HD-DVD devices.

As first-person shooters are all the rage nowadays, many gamers can relate to that indescribable rush that comes from being tossed into a war zone like that in Call of Duty 4 or the science fiction realms of Halo 3. What might surprise you is that the satisfaction you get from playing FPS games doesn’t come from fragging an opponent — it comes from dying.

Phil Harrison WAS the president of worldwide studios for Sony, until this morning when his resignation from the company was announced. Before he went however, he expressed his frustration at the company’s slow acceptance of casual and social gaming as a viable strategy to adopt: one which Nintendo then adopted fully with the massively successful Wii.

HD-DVD is dead, we all know it and Blu-Ray faces a new danger in the form of digital downloads. But, there is still enough rumor mongering and news about HD-DVD to make it worthwhile. The latest report says the Xbox 360 HD-DVD add-on will be getting a huge price cut.

Microsoft has said that there are no current plans to release a Blu-Ray drive for the Xbox 360. The company quotes only a 3 percent adoption rate of the HD-DVD drive for the Xbox 360 as the reason. Part of that is only because a format had not one when that add-on was released. This will be, at least, a short term victory for Sony and the PS3.
