Microsoft and Sony discuss possibility of Xbox 360 Blu-Ray drive
Microsoft has continuously said that there will never be a Blu-ray drive on the Xbox 360. Others have said it would be foolish of the company not to at least consider that option. But now, according to a Sony executive, the two companies are in talks to create a Blu-Ray drive for the Xbox 360.
Sony touts the superiority of the PS3 over the Xbox 360 due to the inclusion of the Blu-Ray drive. It can play Blu-Ray movies and fit more content on game discs; though it had trouble with MGS4.
According to the Financial Times, Sony Electronics US president, Stan Glasgow, claims his company is in talks with Microsoft about the possibility of a Xbox 360 Blu-Ray drive.
Microsoft could provide a Blu-Ray drive in several ways; it could offer a stand-alone unit, like with the HD-DVD drive. It could offer a “Premium” Xbox 360 which would be a level above the “Elite” Xbox 360; or it could include the Blu-Ray drive in the Xbox 360 Elite.
Of course, he says Sony has also been in talks with Apple about including Blu-Ray drives; Apple does not offer Blu-Ray drives in its computers yet.
Glasgow thinks that prices of Blu-Ray drives could fall as low as $299 by the end of the year. Prices will not fall as much as they did with DVD players because the Blu-Ray association has yet to license the technology to Chinese manufacturers; when it finally is, prices will plummet.

Sony’s gettin’ smart… instead of not letting MS use their blu technology (which really is their biggest selling point on the PS3) their gonna let 360′s get faulty blu-ray drives so they can sell more PS3′s.
And to top it off sony will have ultimate say on what is allowed to be released on THEIR format.
It’s pure diabolic genius. Thank you Satan.
