This is another story that keeps circulating around in various incarnations but there’s a new twist to it; this time.  Come next week, Microsoft may be cutting the price in Europe on the Xbox 360 so much so that the Arcade system will cost less than the Wii.

Of course, a price cut has also been rumored for Europe on March 14 and I can’t imagine there being two price cuts within just a few days of each other.  There is probably only going to be one price cut and it will be next week but exactly when remains to be seen.  We’ll know tomorrow.

No price cut has been announced for the US but there’s no reason it shouldn’t be.

As for the reasons behind the price cut, I4U rumors that Microsoft is planning some kind of revision to the Xbox 360.  But what that revision will include, be it a larger hard drive, Blu-Ray or integrated WiFi remains to be seen.  I’ve often hoped that it will be all three.

Even if the Xbox 360 Blu-Ray is for movies only, it’s better than nothing.  If it does release a Blu-Ray drive, let’s also hope it has an HDMI output for those of us that don’t have a new Xbox 360.

If and when Microsoft releases a major upgrade to the Xbox 360 and I mean major as in the things listed above, then and only then will it be time to buy a new Xbox 360.
