Children exposed to porn on Xbox Live

Children exposed to porn on Xbox LiveThe media has been clamoring as of late to bring hell’s fury against gaming consoles and their games; not to let trivial issues pass by without being overblown, the media has decided to bring its wrath against Xbox, its Live service Xbox’s harmless little camera. A couple child gamers were exposed to nudity via the Xbox Live camera, and justifiably, police and authorities have rightfully claimed that gaming consoles are the new venues for sexual predators.

A mother, known only as Jennifer, claims her two children were shown nude images via the Xbox Live service, according to WLNS; she promptly called Xbox and was told that Microsoft can’t really monitor the content being sent from camera to camera.

Why on earth this mother didn’t consider the potential uses of internet cameras before purchasing the peripheral for the 360 has yet to be seen; regardless, she was quick to notify authorities of the “internet crime.”

Jennifer now “fears the safety of her children,” and has cancelled Live service for her assuredly disappointed youngsters. State police — obviously authorities on video games — chipped in their collective two cents, saying “crime” like this is exactly why parents should be “aware” of video games.

This is another perfect example of parental negligence resulting in video games being blamed for things the games, consoles or their makers shouldn’t be held liable for. Before purchasing the console, Live service and camera for her children, Jennifer should have read the instructions and set up parental controls, which are handily available for every Xbox console.

If you don’t want your kids getting pr0nned online, perhaps get them a Wii — Wii nudity would just be cute, really. Console makers, no matter how annoyed, have to make their consoles stupid-proof for this very reason. Of course, the media outlets will blow this out of proportion and pick up their pitch forks and torches. Hopefully the legal system will be behind games and consoles in pointing out that stupid parents should be held responsible, not inanimate objects. After all, the console doesn’t have an exhibitionist streak.

Finally, someone telling it like it is. Seems so many neglectful parents are quick to blame technology for their mistakes. Someone should slap this stupid bitch. Ignorance is NOT an excuse; stop expecting a game console to parent your children.

This is a good example of why there should be intelligence and aptitude test before you’re allowed to have children. There are far too many idiots with kids out there polluting the gene pool and demanding that everybody except themselves be responsible for raising their children.

I find that rather funny. The last thing I would expect when taken down in Burnout would be a pic of some nude guy celebrating his takedown! I would have found that hilarious.

Too bad these kids didn’t have a PS3. That way they’d never have any games to play and thus would never have been using it in the first place to see these nude images.

    amirite, Triston?
