Microsoft makes wrong Xbox 360 repair, right again

By Jonathan Schlaffer

Untitled-9 When any Xbox 360 breaks, the user is likely going to call Microsoft and will have to send it in for repair.  Things do not go so well if you have custom artwork and signatures from the gaming community on your Xbox 360.  Though one owner was assured nothing would happen to the artwork; it came back fully erased.

Things have finally ended well.  After receiving additional materials from Rooster Teeth and Microsoft, he ended up receiving additional materials from both although he did not request such.

Microsoft had been relatively silent as to exactly what it was doing but now it’s pretty clear.  He received a new Xbox 360 with signatures from Rooster Teeth productions, brand new custom artwork by Luke McCay and signatures from additional Xbox 360 staff at Microsoft and Bungie studios.  The package even included a face plate signed by none other than Bill Gates himself.

According to this blog post, additional goodies included,

  • Devil May Cry 4
  • Lost Odyssesy
  • Rainbox Six Las Vegas 2
  • Gears of War
  • Kingdom Under Fire: Circle of Doom
  • Two ‘What’s Your Gamerscore’ bumperstickers
  • Xbox 360 CD Wallet
  • Autographed picture of Bill Gates

This ended quite well, in this case but there are plenty of other people not quite happy with their service from Microsoft.  Even one of our own staff here at Blorge is having issues and has yet to see a resolution.

GOOD. this guy deserved all of this, that is crap that this happened. but ya know what…it’s kind of funny that now were on our 6th xbox but all microsoft will do is send a different xbox that broke down on us 6 days after we received the “fixed” xbox. but all they are compensating us for is 1 month of xbox live. which just makes up for the 1 month that we loose for having to send our “fixed” xbox back 6 days after we recieved it. MICROSOFT HAS LOST A LOT OF RESPECT…and everyone says just go with a ps3 yeah i could do that but then i loose out on the 1 year membership for xbox live all my friends are on xbox live all the games i play are for the xbox so im basically stuck.

    3. Me:

Who on earth wants an autographed picture of Bill Gates?

    4. Phillip:

The 360 fail rate is still pretty severe. (i know first hand).

$100 bucks says this console needs to get sent in. :P

i’m just glad ms is standing behind it’s design errors, unlike sony who had to get sued (successfully) and they STILL refuse to acknowledeg the ps2 had problems. Love em or hate, at least MS has shown more integrity than sony has EVER done. if this would have happened on a sony console, the buyer would have gotten NOTHING. that’s a fact.

    6. Moustachio:

@ kevin, really? you seem to be blowing a lot of hot air. The only documented problem with the PS2 was the disc read errors on the launch consoles, upon learing of this Sony offered a free replacement, this happened in the first month of launch, I know, because I was one of them, Sony never denied, like how MS denied the RROD issue for a year and a half before finally coughing up to their mistake
*rolls eyes profusly in your direction*
You really are a brain dead fanboy kevin, seriouly.
