Get $50 off a Sony PS3 at Amazon.com with previous HD-DVD purchase

By Jonathan Schlaffer

Get $50 off a Sony PS3 at Amazon.com with previous HD-DVD purchase You feel slighted by being an early adopter of HD-DVD players, I can’t say I feel your pain this time but I’ve been in similar circumstances.  If you bought it from Amazon.com you will be getting $50 credit and there’s no better use for that $50 credit than to put it towards a PS3.

Okay, so this is a bit limiting.  One, you need to have purchased a HD-DVD player from Amazon.com in the first place and two, hope that you do indeed get your $50 credit which should be good towards nearly anything but put it towards a PS3.  Seriously, do it.

I suppose there are other things to consider.  You could sell your HD-DVD player plus whatever movies you have on eBay for slightly more and get your $50 credit at Amazon as well so you could get a couple Blu-Ray movies or a game for the PS3.

There you go.  Fifty dollars off a PS3 and a “free” PS3 game or Blu-Ray movie(s); but remember your still taking a loss on that ancient, useless, HD-DVD player of yours.

The only purpose of an HD-DVD player now is as a glorified DVD player, put that sucker on eBay and get your $50 off or see whatever retailer you may have purchased it from for special offers specific to them and put said special offer towards a Sony PS3; it’s the cheapest Blu-Ray player deal in town.

I do have to say it’s nice that Best Buy and now Amazon are trying to patch things up with HD DVD adopters. It would have been nice if Sony had done the same thing with Betamax people.
