New York's Times Square gets exclusive high def video game show An exclusive video game show for New York’s Time Square is not exactly the first thing I thought I would be writing about when I got up this morning.  But, it seems that Clear Channel broadcasting thinks it is a great idea.  The GCHD video series, as its being called will air only on a high-def video display in Times Square and is targeted at the average gamer, but that may not mean what you think it means.

You see, the average gamer these days is 33 years old and is not a Wii player, okay, while some of them may play the Wii, I doubt very much that’s their primary platform of choice, except to play with their kids, if they have kids.  I’m hoping the Wii is not the choice of the average 33 year old gamer or I may as well "shoot" myself right now.  But, that’s another post for another time.

According to Bitt Daily, Wes Keltner, CEO of GCHD said,

"It was a no-brainer to connect with Clear Channel Spectacolor on this idea. Their video display is truly breathtaking and with its feature set, we’re able to do far more than we could on a television network."

I hope it works out for them.  Times Square gets 560,000 visitors per day but I can’t see them all pausing to watch a video game show, maybe I’m a little out of touch but it would have been better served on a cable channel, say G4, if G4 would have them, it’s not what it used to be since the only show worth watching is X-Play.

this article was supposed to be abouta Game Show in Times Square.. and yet you have somehow managed to turn it into another Wii bashing article… arent you supposed to be neutral in News??
I understand if you have opinions and you want to discuss them.. but could you please write them AFTEr the news article… its terribly tacky…

@darkwhitehair, this is a blog. Jonathan Schlaffer
can post his opinions freely if he so chooses.

Unless he bashes the PS3, right Gerry? ;)

I myself can’t help but agree with his anti-Wii sentiments, to a certain extent. But a big part of my brain (the left part, maybe?) can’t help but wonder why. Just because some people enjoy gaming in a way that is different from the way I enjoy gaming, why should that bother me?
I guess concerns over the market shifting in a direction that would be “less enjoyable” for me could be valid, but it seems like that is not something I should be worrying about, at least not for the next 7 years.

    @ Gerry
I never said he cant write whatever he wants… I asked him to not put opinions in the middle of the news article…

  5. Arvis:

…and Gerry was just saying that its a blog, not a news article.

  6. darkwhitehair:

I know its a blog… but when you report news.. you should report the news first THEN offer your opinion…
