Sony, Microsoft argue whether GTA IV has sold more PS3s or Xbox 360s
Grand Theft Auto has now been out for the PS3 and Xbox 360 for five days, and the arguments over sales figures, and which console it is doing better on have begun. Without any official figures yet available, both Sony and Microsoft have claimed early victory in the console sales push.
In the run-up to the game’s release, we heard from various industry analysts who all gave their opinions on which console would do better from Grand Theft Auto 4. Michael Pachter and Edward Williams both went with the Playstation 3, while Billy Pidgeon thought that the Xbox would do better from the title.
Now, after the first few days of sales, the companies themselves have felt the need to compare penis sizes.
According to Yahoo News, Aaron Greenberg, director of product management for Xbox 360 and Xbox Live said:
“We expect that GTA IV is definitely driving a lot of people to Xbox 360. … The fact that we know that we’re outselling [the PS3] two-to-one on the game is a pretty good sign that a lot of those games are going with a new console out the door.”
However, completely unsurprisingly, Sony begs to differ, issuing a statement claiming:
“As expected, the demand for Grand Theft Auto IV drove sales of the PlayStation 3 entertainment system within the first 24 hours, continuing the strong legacy of the franchise on PlayStation platforms.”
Until the first official sales figures are released, not only for the game itself, but the consoles in the aftermath of it coming out, then both are just bragging without any proof or documentation to back up their claims.
So far, sales figures have only been released in the UK, where Grand Theft Auto 4 sold more than 600,000 units in the first 24 hours, creating a new one day sales record for a videogame in Great Britain.

well considering the two ststements. What is your article really trying to imply. There is no comparing penis size like you sugest. Microsoft is saying that the game is selling 2 to 1 which is probably correct as microsoft does not put out figures that are not correct. On the oter hand Sony is saying the expect to sell PS3 during the launch of GTA IV. That is probably true to as there are PS3 fans out there. Sony is not making a comparison here. Microsoft is. Why are you trying to start something that was not really said? It is obvious that the 360 will sell more, so for Sony to say that and then when the figures come out, they would look stupid and give 360 owners a reason to flame about. Blorge get a life.

Of course more games are selling for the Xbox – Xbox 360 has a far larger install base vs. the PS3. This isn’t news. I’m a casual gamer, and I bought a PS3 just for GTA IV. That also isn’t news.

Get this… in most of the weekend markets in Sydney.. you can find people who take up a stall and can install a mod chip… I checked it out on 2003.. when I tried to get my PS2 modded….
The “SHOP” I take it to… they install mod chips as well… I went in with my RRODed 360.. they said that it somehow affected the motherboard… they changed it… (they had the motherboard of another broken 360.. incase you wanted to know)
and it hasnt been a problem since now… because I play the 360 an hour at a time…
took it to the same shop too.. I dont know what they are gonna do now….

dwh – a lawsuit settled over a glitch online is hardly the same as forcing people to buy more than one ps2 at $299 each, but if it makes you feel better, you go right ahead. it’s funny tho; psn has gone down, gta won’t work online, and sony is doing NOTHING to fix it; give it time, sony’s gonna be sued again for the ps3 since ms was sued for similar problems. it’s not the same as quality control that sony was sued for. not even close. you’re right..i didn’t know or care about lost odysey. it got meh reviews and i don’t like japanese developed games..too much fluff, not enough stuff. again, using ONE game against the HUNDREDS available is not only pathetic, but laughable. what are you going to say when a ps3 game comes out on mulitple disks? start working on your answer now…

I wrote about Lost Odyssey because its the LATEST game on the 360… the latest game which already shows the future of 360… the PS3 has a LONG time before games come in multiple blu ray disks… because a blu ray holds thrice as much data as a dual layered DVD.. something else you didnt know…
