Guitar Hero: Metallica confirmed for PS3, Xbox 360, Wii

Guitar Hero: Metallica confirmed for PS3, Xbox 360, Wii Everyone’s favorite hard rock group turned anti-piracy advocate will be getting its very own feature game as part of the Guitar Hero series with Guitar Hero: Metallica. Hopefully all the fanboys in the crowd can put down the pitchforks long enough to rock out on their favorite console of choice.

According to Gamespot, Activision confirmed the title, which will be multi-platform, when it filed the upcoming release with the SEC recently. Guitar Hero: Metallica is slated for release by the first quarter of 2009.

Obviously the band-centric title really isn’t in the Guitar Hero limelight right now, as the buzz surrounding Guitar Hero: World Tour is nearly deafening. Almost everyone seems to have forgotten about Guitar Hero: Aerosmith already, and the game is as fresh as they come.

However, there are a couple big reasons why Guitar Hero: Metallica could and should come off better than the Aerosmith version. First, the Metallica title will be coming after World Tour, and should include the drums and bass in addition to the guitar…and who doesn’t want to rock out with all their friends like Metallica, hmm? Second, the younger generation is assuredly more familiar with and into Metallica than Aerosmith. Both those reasons should make the Metallica title much more appealing than the Aerosmith title.

In all of this, Metallica might be happiest of all. After all, all those lost royalties from naughty Napster users might just end up in the pockets of Metallica after all with this new title, right?

I remember watching the news a few years back and seeing Lars walking into a courtroom with a box with a list of names of people who have downloaded Metallica songs from Napster. I am sure my name must have been there somewhere.

Anyway, I can’t see why he cared so much about losing royalties. Last I checked he was a multi millionaire.

Not a chance I’d buy this. Never will I support Metallica financially after the war they raged against their fans and music in general.

  3. Me:

Out of all these band guitar hero’s I’m looking forward to Guitar Hero: Van Halen (ok it’s still just a rumour) but will definatly be alot better than Guitar Hero: Metallica
