Details on Qore, PS3 to have first ever interactive show
Sony has just announced today their initiate to bring something their competitors the Wii and Xbox 360 doesn’t have yet: ‘Qore.’ A new type of product that will be the first of its kind, an interactive show brought via the home console market place.
Qore will be hosted by Veronica Belmont who is known to host a variety of other online shows on the web. Sony promises to deliver ‘unprecedented access to inside Playstation Network,’ with behind the scenes of latest upcomming video games, developer interviews, screenshots, and new exclusive themes as well as wallpapers each month.
All of Qore will be accessible through a video game like menu, with selection to various contents (see picture above).
According to 1Up Qore will also have hidden easter eggs inside the interface, which users will have to find. Also subscribers will get early access to betas such as the SOCOM beta which users will get invitations to. However, all this goodness does come at a price.
There is a subscription fee of $2.99 per month or $24.99 for 13 months, giving you a savings of $13.88. Also, for a limited time annual subscribers will get a free downloadable game ‘Calling All Cars’ from the acclaimed developer of God of War- David Jaffe, a $9.99 value game on PSN currently.
In Sony’s press release they outline what will be on the first episode of Qore this month:
Premiering on June 5, the first episode includes in-depth, exclusive and never-before released content on upcoming PlayStation titles such as SOCOM:US. Navy SEALs Confrontation(TM), Star Wars: The Force Unleashed(TM), Secret Agent Clank(TM), Soul Calibur 4(TM) and Afro Samurai(TM) as well as the latest Blu-ray Disc(TM) trailers, an exclusive SOCOM: Confrontation theme with an invitation to the SOCOM: Confrontation beta, art galleries and a few other surprises.
Apparently Quore offers picture in picture as well as well as the capability to customize the display to your liking.
All in all, this looks to be an interesting offering much like an interactive magazine subscription. Actually, you could consider it a magazine with the cost of the subscription being around the same price and considering the content is published from video game magazine publisher Future US Inc.
I know many PS3 owners will be enticed to get the subscription just because of the SOCOM beta. It was also smart of Sony and Future US to get Veronica Belmont to host the show as she already has a huge fan following on the Internet.
Why don’t you tell us what you think of Qore?

Playstation network is free huh? Sony are sneaky. I hear that they’re also going to charge users for the cool looking furniture for home, leaving the crappy furniture as free.
Home is going to be an epic failure. Live will continue to cream anything that sony brings out.

Here Sony goes again forgeting that there console is a game machine and not a online magazine. What a way to get people to pay. It won’t work because only cheap people are on PSN. The numerous time I have heard the our online is free debate, I wanna see who is going to pay now.

Wasn’t made by Sony, was chosen to put on PS3 and offer gamers to use the service, like Folding Home
June 4th, 2008
Yes Folding was also another initivitave that was put before Games. Sony is so confused. They don’t even know what their machine is.

Bugger off CAD you nit picking sook. PSN is still free and online gaming is still free. So what if an additional service is offered for a fee. Wake up fool.
Is Microsoft confused ??? It is supposed to be a “Gaming Machine” ONLY, yet it has a HD DVD add on, soon to be offering downloadable movies and media content (if it isn’t already)…Media player and streaming capabilities….How much more “non-gaming” content and features is going to make it to 360.
Oh sorry, according to you, only microsoft can do that stuff without being “confused” but sony can’t.
Fanboy.

Yeh we are so cheap that we paid more for a better more reliable console, which then rewards us for our extra spend.
Just so damn sneaky, a business trying to make some money? By selling something which is optional to us anyway? To accompany the already free online network? Say it ain’t so!
I suppose it’s optional to have Live on 360 too, but playing with no online functions is pretty lame.

Troll CAD is a troll.
I don’t think cheap people enjoy (I replaced the word ‘use’ because if you only own a ps3, you are going to use the PSN) PSN.
People who think none persistant online play should be free enjoy the PSN.
I have no issues buying games from the PSN and have done so on many occasions. I would buy movies, tv shows etc etc if they put them on there.

CAD, like I said Folding and Qore where not made by Sony, the developers chose to put it on the PS3 and Sony let them, Qore isn’t free but it’s also opptional. If Sony are hardly involved how can it effect there game making?

Qore is optional as is buying Edge magazine, Game TM magazine etc. Its a magazine subscription which you pay for the same as any other magazine sub. Sony are NOT charging to play games online unlike Microsoft. They are offering an additional service.
As for the demos you are NOT paying for the demos, you are paying for the service. The demos will no doubt still be available on the PSN for free.
360 fanboys are so pathetic.

this is going to be awsome it makes up for the delay of home wich is a hole lot more than what you get on the shitbox 3shity witch ofers almost nothing, and CAD is a retard your say the ps3 is bad becouse it has mare features- thats an xbox fans only insult the ps3 is bad becouse its free and has more features thats the domest thing ever.

I agree. sony is very confused and in turn, confusing consumers. when even Ken kuturagi stated, “we’ve never once called the ps3 a gaming machine”, they lost their identity. the ps name was built on gaming, hence the PLAY in Playstation.
it’s a nice movie player, but gamers want a gaming machine as a paramount consideration. the ps3 just isn’t it.
btw; sony did say they reserved the right to start charging for online play at any time. wait for it; it’s coming. it may not come from sony directly, but rather the developers who sony will point the finger at for charging while claiming they are still “free”.

Yeah, whatever Kevin….Mine is a gaming machine first, blu-ray player second. It does a mighty fine job at both. How bout worring about how your beloved 360 is going before worrying about the PS3. I’m fine with how it’s going.
Once again….if Sony is confused, the same could be said for Microsoft.
And Kevin, you can “what if” all you want about PSN and being possibly charged in the future…. The fact of the matter is, it is currently free and is for the forseeable future.

well i feel the xbox 360 is a gaming machine first, then a frying pan (due to excess heat) , then a doorstop (when it finally succumbs to RROD). How do you feel about that kevin?
