PS3 Bioshock secret partner studio revealed
By Mike Ferro
It was announced by 2K studios that 2K Marin, 2K Australia and 2K Boston would be working on the PS3 version of Bioshock. Bioshock once an Xbox 360 exclusive was announced to be coming to the PS3 later this year. It was also announced an outside studio is helping them with bringing Bioshock to the PS3.
It’s not all that surprising that they would do this considering 2K Boston, Marin and Australia have little to no experience developing on the PS3. According to Monster and Critics 2K Games announced today the secret studio they have decided to partner up with is no other than Digital Extremes.
Digital Extremes is the company that brought you Dark Sector to the Xbox 360 and PS3. Apparently they have mastered the PS3 hardware and is more than capable of optimizing the code specifically for that platform.
It really is an efficient way of tasking the project. One team concentrates on optimizing the code for the platform, while the original team, Boston creates the extra level and the other teams focus on brining extra content.
The extra level and content has been verified by 2K Games president Christopher Hartmann to be exclusive to the PS3 only, so does this make existing Bioshock owners want to get the PS3 version like Hartmann said? For me yes, I have to say I am planning on getting the PS3 version on top of my Xbox 360 version.
The reason is I just loved the game so much and couldn’t get enough of it. A whole entire new level, how could I resist?
what do you guys think? Would you want to get the earliest version possible, or get a more ‘complete’ version one year later, or like me get both versions?
No matter what, to me as a huge Bioshock fan not being able to play the version that came out last year and the new version on the PS3 is a crying shame.

hell yeah…who wouldnt….that extra content and level could be really long…i would expect that….why waste time on one level that would be short, when you can have sooo much more…there is like 40gb on the disc not used..so lets make that extra stuff worth it.

the next version for the ps3 will be a shell of the original. not the same team making it.
