Microsoft confirms fantastic surprise for Xbox 360 at E3, possible 3D dashboard?

There has been a plethora of rumors doing the rounds on the Internet, regarding Xbox 360’s much anticipated delayed Spring update. There are rumors of a Wii like controller, a new Mii-like avatar system, and a hard drive install option. Now, a Microsoft marketing executive David Gosen, teases us a bit more and confirms something big is in the works.
According to CVG, Gosen confirmed a “fantastic surprise” is in store for Xbox 360 fans at E3 in the coming weeks. He didn’t reveal anything further than confirm the surprise is not the rumored Wii-like controller many have speculated.
He also goes on to say that the surprise announcement would be “game-changing” news. Wow, what in the world could the announcement be?
According to Kotaku, they have been getting numerous reports recently that the big surprise could be an alternative option to the dashboard; a 3D dashboard similar to the Minority Report motion controlling interface. We touched on this topic in the past, it sounds good in theory but there could be serious obstacles.
That would definitely be a cool concept, but would it be practical? Would you use the Xbox gamepad analog stick to motion and navigate the 3D interface or would there be a peripheral attachment? Also another question comes to mind, just how would having a 3D dashboard be considered “game-changing,” unless there is some game integration to the interface.
Such integration would make sense though, considering Sony has already announced their 3D world Home will have game integration as well. Is this another case of Microsoft doing a Mii-too copy?
In this ever increasingly competitive video game industry a case of the “Mii-too” is not unheard of considering in order to stay competitive you must offer at least what the competitor is offering.
All of this is rumor and speculation at this point, but you can bet more detailed information will be leaked akin to Microsoft’s past history. E3 will begin July 14 and end July 17th.
Most likely the major announcements will be made during Microsoft’s press conference which will be held on the 14th.

hmmmm… Halo 4? Now that would be fantastic. I do welcome any additions to the dashboard. Currently it is really easy to operate, but I like change and a 3d dashboard sounds kind of cool. I just hope that whatever it is it is something really different. I don’t like the way console manufacturers copy each other (Ps3 trophys etc), I would rather they come up with completely new ideas. Things that I would consider fantastic..
1. Free xbox live (to be honest i don’t mind paying, but I could spend the money on a game every year)
2. Halo 4
3. Goldeneye XBLA (won’t happen)
4. Duke Nukem 3D XBLA (happening soon!!)
5. Sega Dreamcast titles avaliable exclusively for download on xbox 360 also including sega greats like Daytona, Sega Rally, Alex the Kidd, Virtua Fighter 2 & Virtua On etc.
6. Peter Moore re-signed to work as Marketing for xbox 360!
7. Gears of War 2 to be a free download (haha!)
8. Banjo Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts to be released early! I can’t wait.
9. Lips confirmed and it whoops Singstar!

One thing’s for sure - whatever it is, it would have been an idea copied from elsewhere.
Microsoft seriously sucks at innovation (when has MS EVER come up with a new product??) but excels at taking ideas and mass marketing them beyond belief.

But on a serious note, how would 3D dashboard be game changing? and how exactly would they integrate it into games? thats of course if it is 3D dashboard. Not particularly ground breaking stuff.

I have two Xbox 360 in case you didn’t already know by my Gamertag: Ivan PSP which i posted several times already. But PLAYSTATION 3 is still better in many things PSN is a kick ass service because is FREE with all Xbox 360 features i rather pay. Do you know why i own two Xbox 360? and no is not because of the Red Light of Death crap never gotten that shit yet.

You love me so much i don’t use my Xbox 360 much too boring… I play most of my games on PS3 i beat GTA IV two times already on PS3. I don’t care putting my info you can’t touch me because I’m untouchable. Xbox 360 is way boring Microsoft just has it because they can charge people for downloading half HD shows at 720p is a huge rip off. The only different from Live and PSN is that PSN is free and LIVE isn’t. 21 Oh Yeah

The big suprise is going to be that they’re coming out with a new system, but you get to decide and buy which parts you want in it, like the size of the HD, and all the other components, and you can upgrade them as time goes on. its sounds like an amazing idea. hope it works out.

What huge library almost every Xbox 360 exclusive is available on PC %99 of the time . And almost about %90 of the time the game is just an over hype FPS not worth getting. If you want real games especially new IP you will need a PLAYSTATION 3 the only next gen gaming system. Most Xbox 360 games are just timed exclusives like Bioshock and Microsoft tries to hide it even the crap of Mass Effect 3 not will on PS3 just ask EA and see. Microsoft just hypes and buys timed exclusives and publishers games but they don’t make shit no talent. You see SCEA games or even Nintendo’s crap those two companies can succeed alone unlike Microsoft the only game made by Bungie. I see Unreal Tournament III a PS3 time exclusive was consider a sleeper hit and now that is on Xbox with less feature no mod support and Xbox reviwer are already saying how perfect it is FUCKING FANBOY SHOULD BE FIRE FOR BEING SO BIASED TOWARDS DATED CONSOLE. As for Windows Windows Vista sucks i have XP but i wish i had a MAC OS Windows success was the same as Xbox 360 no competitor at the time. Stop the denial is pathetic already. The only thing that can save Xbox 360 is Microsoft buy making games instead of just buying timed excluisves and losing them later or fix the Red Light of Death for good. Actually according to Metacritic more reviewers are giving the PS3 version of Unreal Tournament III a higher score than Xbox 360’s version.

PC - 83
don’t ask me how the PC version was rated lower, but it is.
PS3 has about 63 reviews and sits at 86, you would assume as the more reviews the game gets the lower the score becomes but it’s been getting decent reviews.
Xbox 360 seems to be getting lower reviews from same reviewers as PS3 version… lack of mods seem to be a big minus.
I do agree with you Xbox 360 doesn’t really have a huge library of good games when you consider 70% of the games according to metacritic are garbage shovelware.
Remeber that chart showing what system had average of better reviewed games? PS3 had the highest average of better reviewed games than Xbox 360.
Meaning less shovel ware per console.

The PC version is way better ten times than Xbox 360 version. The Xbox 360 version doesn’t even have mods that’s the best feature and is missing. The people claiming this game is huge are the same Gears of War fanboy Xbox websites. I would love to see similar games like Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune style on Xbox those type of games of games like Ratchet and Clank i don’t see anything innovating about Xbox 360. Most reviewing site like G4 Gametrailers Gamespotand even IGN sometimes they biased towards Xbox crap even if the is garbage like Halo 3 was it gets a near perfect score or a perfect one on PS3 the same game will get like an 8 why because fanboy journalist i hope this stop is a shamed and bad for the gaming industry.

or maybe he is not so sad he has to spend his life buying crap games he doesn’t like just to increase his boring gamerscore. i prefer ps3 trophies because its more then a number (bronze, silver, total trophies, level etc) but i still find it boring and have no time for it.
