PS3 Greatest Hits - Games include MotorStorm, Resistance & Warhawk

By Dave Parrack

PS3 Greatest Hits - Games include MotorStorm, Resistance & WarhawkThe Greatest Hits, or Platinum range, of best-selling re-released games has become a mainstay of gaming since Sony introduced it with the original Playstation console in 1997. Now, the Playstation 3 is getting its first Greatest Hits releases in the US and Europe, with Japan having already obtained the budget range.

Japan has had the budget range of PS3 games since March, with Folkore, Resistance, Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Mobile Suit Gundam: Target in Sight and Ridge Racer 7 all being available at a lower price in an effort to have a second crack at the best-selling lists.

Then a list of SCEE titles due for price cuts in Europe was revealed, with Resistance, Genji, F1, MotorStorm, Heavenly Sword, Lair, Folklore and Ridge Racer 7 all becoming budget titles. Though none have been confirmed as being part of a new Platinum range, the chances are, looking at the titles, likely.

And now, on the eve of E3, it’s America’s turn. Kotaku are reporting that a picture from a new K-Mart catalogue has appeared on Flickr, which purports to show the first three games being included in the PS3 Greatest Hits range. The games are, as the title of this post suggested, MotorStorm, Resistance and Warhawk. Which are all games that showed off the console’s early potential.

It’s about time the Greatest Hits came to the PS3, and these titles seem to be a good start. God Of War 2 was the last title in the budget range on the Playstation 2, so it’s definitely time to move on. The question now is: will this new range help with Playstation 3 sales?

The console itself is still the most expensive of the three current-gen choices, with the Nintendo Wii being cheap enough for families to afford, and the Xbox 360 about to get a $50 price cut. But this new range of re-releases, geared towards new PS3 owners on a budget could help Sony shift some more units.

u idiots do know that motorstorm and warhawk were NOT launch titles right? get ur facts straight. and stop getting “news” from other websites and taking credit for them. idiots

    2. Ben:

      @ywywy5

Motorstorm was a launch title, idiot. Get YOUR facts straight before criticizing other peoples.

    3. Spideydog:

Both resistance and motorstorm came with my 60gig.

    4. jerrtcol:

motorstorm was released in 07 dumbshit

    5. Bourne:

Resistance is £9.99 somewhere now i think it was HMV. i need warhawk, i hope i can find it and buy it and also ywywy5, motorstorm WAS a launch title.

    6. Royzy:

Just incase you didn’t hear everyone else, ywywy5, Motorstorm WAS a launch title in the UK.

That’s why they left out offline multiplayer apparently, because they couldn’t do it in the time frame.

    7. harry sachz:

Lair is a ‘Greatest Hit’?!?! HAHAHAHAHAHA

    8. Nico:

If Lair is sold as a ‘Greatest Hit’ in the US then I’ll buy it. Also would like to buy Heavenly Sword, and Folklore as greatest hits, because I don’t want to spend $60 US dollars on any of those games, but I want them. Rather buy 3 greatest hit games with the price of one.

    9. Bob:

In the U.S., Motorstorm was not a launch title.

    10. harry sachz:

Maybe they should release Lair and Haze under ‘Greatest Shits’.

    11. Bourne:

Nico dont expect much from heavenly sword, ive played it through and the story is actually quite good, and some fixed battles are as well. The graphics are pretty impressive as well but the negatives are huge, with no multiplayer, no replayable inscentives, you’ll play it once and never again. I feel it was my duty to inform you as i found it rather disapointing.

I’ll be joining you though on that Lair idea if they do release it cheaply.

    12. kev:

harry -i know. i was laughing at that too. oh well… beggars can’t be choosers… lmao..

    13. Mr Sparkle:

      Man what a jerk
