E3 2008: Sony unveils massive 256 player game and God of War 3
Sony just finished up their press conference and there were quite a few surprises unveiled by Jack Trenton who ran the whole show. Sony finally unveiled God of War 3 for PS3 and also introduced a new title *Placeholder title* MAG, which supports up to 256 players.
There has never been a game to boast that many player at once in an online multiplayer game. Apparently you will be in a squad of eight players with a leader and fight against other squads in a huge battle with up to 256 other players.
The trailer looks like this title might be extremely interesting. This game is also developed by Zipper Interactive the guys that brought you the famous SOCOM series. There will be character progression meaning leveling up in the ranks and status.
The other game that was unveiled was the much anticipated God of War 3 trailer. This trailer reminds us why Kratos is so bad ass, but disappointingly there were no gameplay available.
It was said this game will be coming out after holidays so scratch that in our prediction book for a 2008 release date. I am hopeful now that the title has been officially unveiled we will be getting in more information and gameplay footages as time goes by.
Another title that was shown was Resistance 2, looking better every time I see it. They have now introduced a huge creature like boss that picks Nathan Hale and slams him around into building tops. By far this has got to be the best video they have shown at Sony’s press conference.
I have to admit just watching the video made my blood pump for some more Resistance action.
Overall the conference was good, a lot of talking bout the PSP and PS2 but that is always expected, can’t wait for some gameplay footages soon.

Disapointed by this e3, games did look ok but no MAJOR hardware/software anonouncements (althouh that 256 online game sounds fantastic). Damn internet rumours, cant wait to get my hands on resistance 2.

Well it looks like MS took E3 with a bang. Nentindo was week and Sony was OK but Microsoft just really steped up the anit.

Yeah CAD 360 is going to do fine!, it’s super awesome!! and will easily beat both the Wii and PS3 put together, YAY! , they should have just called E3 “MS party 08″
I just hope for CAD’s sake Sony don’t give us a name, trailer and more details for “TRICO”

nah, none of the Press conference were all that great.
Microsoft really didn’t show anything new, Sony showed a couple new IPs, Nintendo.. don’t even get me started how bleh it was..
FFXIII going multiplat, big whoop.. I don’t think you will see any exclusives on 360 or PS3 from 3rd party developers anymore.
Even Star Ocean has been confirmed for sametime release for 360 and PS3 once considered 360 exclusive.
Only exclusive from Square for 360 is Infinite Undiscovery, and PS3 is Final Fantasy Versus XIII.

hey if you guys feel the 360 is so superior theres nothing to worry on, but seeing as how harry comments on every sony blog on here saying how sony is screwing up in his eyes shows insecurity. Its hilarious. Face it microsoft offered nothing at e3 and to reassure yourself you’ve decided to attack sony. Im not saying sony offered anything spectacular, rather a taste of things to come. The only title you’ve got to show for e3 is GOW2. aside from that you got nothing! Now if you dont mind were going to enjoy our LBP, GTTV,MAG, HOME , video rental/downloads, Motorstorm 2, Resistance 2, infamous.

bourne – it’s hilarious you keep hyping “taste of things to come” when the vast majority of sony’s promises surrounding the ps3 have been broken. I’d love to hear your explanation why the ps3 has the lowest tie in ratio of all three consoles if their games are that great.

Were just rubbing it in your face because you guys toot the Sony horn so much that when Microsoft delivered a KO Punch and Sony just sat there and took it it, it is abloutly satisfying be see Sony crumble. So what if Sony mentioned a few games. They need it! We over on the 360 have so many games that I don’t even have enough money to get all the ones I love. Games are not an issue for us because 360 library is loaded with hits with more to come and more titles to take from Sony. So when Avtars, Netflix, Social networking, Live game shows, Downloads from the net to 360 without being home, 8 friend party support for games and movies, it just make the 360 worth the online price. Sony tried to match 360′s online capibilities and Microsoft just steped up the product offering. Where is “Home” Sony? That is a product that has been delayed and delayed and even the beta testers have bad things to say about it. MS just introduced Avtars and just lke that it happens. WOW!

Cad- Avatars are not Home, I’m sure avatars are a little less complicated.
Watching movies online with friends, who even wants to do that? I’ve never been at home on the couch thinking if only I could download a movie and watch it with my friends online. Maybe that is what you are looking for, if it is I don’t mean to put it down, it’s just not for me. But if that’s what you are into then I’m glad 360 gave it to you. That’s what it is all about, each console giving its customer what they want. Put down the PS3 if you like, but it is giving me what I want, so I am happy!

Ace list Harry!, GOW 2 just pales in comparison to a Singstar rip-off, awfully slow movie downloads (it’s quicker to go to the shop and u get a hard copy) and a Mii rip-off.
Funny how all u (Kev, CAD, Harry) criticise Sony for making the ps3 an entertanment hub and not just a games machine, now MS is trying to do the same thing to appeal outside the hardcore market (ain’t gonna happen). Now it’s the ps3 with the more games coming out and more game-related announcements at E3, and u still argue that MS “owned E3″ despite it’s lack of future titles. MS E3 show just made them look increasingly desparate.
Oh and for anyone saying Nintendo where hardly noticably at E3, they didn’t need to be.

Microsoft didnt show almost nothing besides FFXIII which is coming a year after the ps3 version plus due to dvd9 it will be missing a lot of feature Sony definitely did the best this year.

$ony’s conference was CRAP!!! Nothing new was announced at all!! Just the same games that they promised will be out this year that have been pushed back to next year.
Maybe next year’s E3 might show another shiny trailer for Killzone 2 and GOW3.

and what exactly was stellar about the microsoft announcement? announcing a slightly larger model, no new games, only re-itterating the gears of war franchise which is all the microsoft fanboys are clinging to. Few video downloads which will suck due to length of download.
I’d like to add the fact that if the 360 is much more powerful than the ps3, then why hasnt microsoft utilized this power like stanford uni with folding at home (which has set a world record for one petaflop of power, thats 10,000,000,000,000,000 of proccessing PER SECOND.).

It was a lackluster conference. I do have one question, where the heck did this Harry bofoone come from. He has to be the most annoying xbot on here. At least Kev or Cad have something relevant to say once and a while. This guy says the same stupid sh*t over and over again.
If M$ had such a good E3 than why don’t I want anything they announced. Shouldn’t announcements at E3 make me jelous or make me want to buy a 360? Don’t get me wrong Sony wasn’t impressive either!
