E3 2008: Roundup and the best game out of PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii

E3 is over! Personally leaving very little in the way of an impression on my brain. The anticipation and hype before E3 was at peak levels yet I felt we were disappointed on so many levels.
Microsoft showed us practically nothing new we didn’t already talk about here on Blorge Gamer such as the rumored: 3D Interface, Mii-too Avatars, and long rumored Netflix deal.
Revealing Final Fantasy XIII for the 360 was Microsoft’s highlight and I have to give them props for that because it was just so out of leftfield. However if they had revealed Final Fantasy XIII was Microsoft exclusive they would have stolen the show.
Sony’s showing was a tad disappointing as well. Practically nothing that was rumored showed up except the movie rental/purchase they revealed on PSN. Where is this rumored radical game that left several journalist jaw dropping? Where is Team ICO’s new project? Where is Naughty Dog’s Uncharted Drake’s Fortune 2?
Then they teased us with that God Of War III(GOW3) trailer with no gameplay. They also ended by showing us MAG again with no gameplay. I felt they could have also stolen the show only if the gameplay videos were shown for these games.
The Wii conference was the worst from a hardcore gamer’s point of view. It was like watching something geared towards a completely different audience then Sony and Microsoft. It was frustrating they didn’t reveal any new hardcore games aside the fact Mario and Zelda teams were working on a new game.
I wonder if anyone was surprised that Nintendo announced yet another peripheral, because I sure wasn’t.
However out of everything I saw from E3 the best game of E3 2008 goes to Resident Evil 5, without a doubt. This game looks phenomenal, with excellent graphics and gameplay mechanics.
Yes, the gameplay was finally shown live on the showroom floor and you could tell the game was definitely polished with fluid movements and attention to detail.
Not only that, they revealed the co-op mode between the two characters and how they need to work together to advance the mission. All in all, this game looks like a solid title everyone should pickup.

Yes, as I’ve mentioned before, E3 did nothing for me. If I paid money to go to it, I woulda asked for my money back….
RE5 does look absolutely fantasitic and may be an essential purchase for me. Been hooked on it since the trailer came out.
Haven’t played RE since PSX and the two disc set (RE2 I think) where you could play as the male player first and then come back and play as the female on either side of the burning wreckage that they both get separated at. (Yes, I don’t remember thier names, but I remember he was a cop from the racoon city Police
) That was a great game and a great idea…..

Yeah IGN says it plays identical to RE4 which is great because RE4 was awesome
They’ve added a few new features such as quick weapon switching to it also.

I too was disappointed by E3 this year. Nothing the only new point I took from it was the Wii add-on, which pissed me off anyways because I feel should have been included to begin with if it truely will offer more accurate and life-like motion-sensor. I won’t buy the Wii-Mote add and I’m not ready for another Mario game in the foreseeable future.
RE5…yeah, I’ll be buying it on release date…not sure for which platform though.

It’s better than no Halo at all. And it’s not opinion, it’s been proven that the 360 games look better than the P$3 games in the majority of multiplatformers.

you xbots are kidding yourselves. gow2 was the only exclusive you have in the forseeable future. sony has resistance, socom, killzone, little big planet, gow3, mag, the agency, infamous, etc. i wont mention the lame ones just as i dont mention all of 360’s lame ones. they have quite a few this year, lol. avitars pale compared to home in which avitars will be only a small part. netflix is countered by sonys new movie thing too. at least we all have a hard drive to download to. sony’s e3 may not have been loaded with surprises but they certainly had alot of quality shit to showcase. microsoft had nothing but gears, thats sad. yet you still claim microsoft had the better e3. do you really believe that crap?

ehutch are you kidding me how about fable2, too human, and left for dead, and portal 2 none of those are coming to the ps3. you also mention sony has their own download thing to compare to netflix, sorry to break it to you chief but we have been doing that for over a year now on the 360. now on to your games gow video no actual game footage=fail, the agency looks like pure garbage, socom is ok not great, infamous looks retarded. again mag no actual game footage=fail, the only good games you have are killzone 2 and resistance 2 both pale in comparison to gears 2. all games i listed will be out this year you cannot say the same for the games you listed. so no i say the ps3 all together is just plain sad i am sorry i bought one. drakes and resistance are the only games you have the rest are bleh.

As with the not playing RE after PSX, I changed to Xbox (orig), then to PC and then back to PS, so I’ve missed out a little. But everyone keeps talking about RE4, so I might give it a crack…came out on PS2 didin’t it? If so, I’ll give it a run on the PS3.

It was indeed higher res. on the 360 and was running at 720p whilst the PS3 was 630 I think. Sony made some shitty decisions when designing the PS3 & MS made some very good ones.

Spideydog, as much as you don’t want to hear it, it’s true, the PS3 could not handle all the pixels, so Rockstar had to dumb it down.
Future of sega…for something ‘So more advanced’ than the 360, why does it always seem to choke and splutter when games are ported from 360 to it? If it is THAT much more advanced, then taking a port shouldn’t be any problem whatsoever, right?? And let’s flip the coin, why does 360 have no problem porting P$3 games? If 360 is meant to be so much less advanced than P$3, one would assume that it would struggle with these ports, yes?

Hairy sack Rockstar creative VP Dan Houser even stated in an interview that the xbox 360 couldnt handle the size of the map that was originally wanted for GTA4 which was planned on blu-ray, so they had to “dumb it down” for your benefit (eith the dvd 9 disk)

@ harry sachz: Bingo! Lazy programmers is correct! Can you say EA??? Valve??? Those are two great examples of laziness in today’s video game programmers. And why do you say the PS3 chokes and splutters??
Back in 2007, the game called F.E.A.R. (a great game) was ported over to the PS3. It plays well. I see no problems in that game except for some loose controls.
In 2007 the game called DIRT, was a port on the PS3, and it actually did better and got a higher rating on the PS3 than the 360!
Oblivion is another great example. In plays better and smoother on the PS3 than the 360. And that was ported to the PS3 as well.
So you see once again that your assumptions have no valid point.

My GTA4 runs at either 720p or 1080p, but wasn’t sure at the “actual” pixel res.
Harry, my PS3 oblivion runs better than my PC version, graphically and perfomance wise… and I had a gaming PC.
Harry, if you are going to post fanboy “PS3 couldn’t handle the high res in GTA4″ at least back it up with something…..Otherwise, as I said earlier, you will be ignored.
