Week in gaming: PSN gets Xbox Live exclusive and Bungie confirms new game
By Mike Ferro
Another fun filled week full of new gaming news and here on BLORGE Gamer we sum up the latest news to hit the web. A confirmation of a former Xbox 360 exclusive hits PSN, Final Fantasy XIII PC bound and Bungie talks about new project. Read below for all the details.
Penny Arcade game confirmed for PSN
Joystiq spills the beans that HotHead Games have confirmed that the former Xbox 360 exclusive Penny Arcade game will indeed be heading to PSN on the PS3 very soon. Penny Arcade is a fun little zany game that had me in stitches at times and is excellent to kill some time with.
Penny Arcade will be another episodic style game to be added to PSN’s line up next to Siren: Blood Curse which debuted on the PSN store today. I remember playing the first Siren on the PS2 and to date no other survival horror game has even come close to creeping me out.
Something about Japanese Shibitos that starts crackling uncontrollably as they drag one leg is just plain creepy. Turning this game into an episodic series is a smart move on Sony’s part, because the nature of Siren 1 and Siren 2 were episodic due to it’s unusual time slot missions.
Final Fantasy XIII is PC bound
It’s confirmed FFXIII is PC bound! It looks like Square Enix is breaking the mold and following along in Capcom’s footsteps. Capcom is the other major Japanese publisher that started cranking out AAA games on every single platform they can get their hands on. Now, in a unprecedented move for the first time Square Enix brings FFXIII to PC, and no Final Fantasy XI doesn’t count.
Apparently according to Kotaku the development process will go something like this: PS3 version complete > PC version complete > Xbox 360 version complete. I’m already predicting that one of the PS3 port’s will suffer considering how much they talked about the former “White Engine” which supposedly was designed ground up to take advantage of all the SPUs.
Games like Burnout on the PS3 which was ported to the Xbox 360 were developed with multiplatform in mind so the developers throttled the main CPU and made little use of the SPUs.
Bungie Confirms three projects
Yes, we have heard the story about Bungie wanting to reveal their new game at E3 but was blocked by their publisher. The publisher is still unknown but many suspect it to be Microsoft. Now why would Microsoft block a new Halo game announcement during E3?
Some have speculated that the publisher may not be Microsoft but EA and the alleged game announcement is a new multiplatform title. It would sort of make sense why Bungie would want to break away from Microsoft and set their horizon higher by making a game on every platform known to man.
One thing for sure, according to Kotaku Bungie confirms that they have indeed three projects in the pipeline. One game will definitely be a Halo game but the other two is a mystery.
Well, we should find out soon enough.

Bungie has confirmed that they will remain exclusive to the 360. How about you start posting fact rather than making up bullshit, FERRO?
July 25th, 2008
Ha ha!!!! The 360 stole FF XIII and Sony sweeps in and takes Penny Arcade. Take that MS!! I hope this teaches you Xbots a lesson. Don’t mess with Sony or else. I bet you guys didn’t even see this coming. Great marketing too. Let’s wait until just after E3 and then blow them away with this news. I guess what I’m saying is we’re even now!

Someone put a bullet in Hirai Head because he said he would rather put a bullet in his head then have an exclusive form Microsoft. So give us back Bioshock and Penny arcade, and Orange Box and what ever else. So this is how the interview went down:
Aftonbladet: If you had to choose ONE exclusive Xbox 360 title and launch it for the PS3 instead, which game would it be?
Hirai: I don’t think I have to choose any…..
Aftonbladet: You have to pick one.
Hirai: Again, I don’t think I have to pick one because we have such a fantastic lineup of games.
Aftonbladet: But if someone is holding a gun to your head and you have to choose one. Which game would it be?
Hirai: Okay.. then they have to shoot me, because I really don’t think we need any.

lol i hope that Sony steals all the 360 exclusives just to take the piss. Gears of war on ps3 anyone?
July 25th, 2008
“Some have speculated”… ah…. how concrete… lmao…
“some have speculated” the ps3 would die a horrible death at the hands of the 360, wii, and disinterested ps2 players…
July 25th, 2008
Cad - Give you back Bioshock etc? wtf its not like they’re now ps3 exclusives.
July 25th, 2008
Bourne
Did you even read what I wrote. Your Boy Kaz Harai stated that he would rather take a bullet in the head then have 360 exclusives.
Therefore he need plenty of bullets in the head for each game that was exclusive on 360 then became a game on PS3 Later. That Harai is a confusse little man. He is always blurting out some sort of shit that makes no sense.
July 25th, 2008
Just thought I should also mention that FF13 will not be the first FF on a PC. Both FF7 and 8 had PC releases.
July 25th, 2008
Bourne- guess you found a connection in Canada huh. It must be nice knowing your not in the same country as Kev. But you did enter Cad’s territory now. Be careful he may send the Mounties after you!
July 25th, 2008
kev, curious.. you seem to have an adverse reaction to even the notion Bungie may have another publisher besides Microsoft?
According to Gamespot “Industry sources” say Bungie has a game with EA.
Kotaku also speculates Bungie may have a game with EA.
I also speculate by the recent behavior of Bungie and their teaser with the little robot with a plunger there maybe a new IP with EA.
Something wrong with that? ..because I clearly see nothing wrong with that.
July 25th, 2008
Sony doesn’t paid like Microsoft. The only way Microsoft can have games since they don’t make any is by trying to pay off some developers for most of their FPS how pathetic low and lame timed exclusives. Developers give PS3 exclusive that’s SCEA doesn’t need to buy anything game developers loves PS3 except of course EA Valve Capcom well they suck anyways.
July 25th, 2008
no, mike, i have an “adverse reaction” to you useing nameless, faceless “insiders” as a source of information.
it’s better to wait for facts.
July 25th, 2008
CAD - tbh i dont care what you wrote.
July 25th, 2008
LOL wylie yeah im wary of them…. I dont think i was in the same country as Kev… i was in England, i assume he lives in America seeing as he was paid by them?

Gates
Your just jelous that MS has that kind of money because PS3 spend a billion securing bluray mean while they Punked loyal gamers off in a effort to win a format when the Playstation brand is suppose to be about games. Now they have bluray and it’s not getting them anywhere. They don’t even have 5% of the DVD market. Mean while MS is the champion of delivering in the game market with most games haveing high ratings of 8 or better. Sony fanboys, you got punked.
July 25th, 2008
So here is a question for Blorge.
Why have you not reported on what Hirai said about the bullet in his head? Is that because it’s bad PR for Sony? They seem to always but their foot in their mouth. I heard one today that I never heard before. A comment about “PSP will bring handheld gaming out of the gaming ghetto.” What kind of statement is that. They need Ken back at least he is not a moron.
July 25th, 2008
Paranoid…………..
July 25th, 2008
Got to love when Microsoft fanboys play crotchgrab with eachother and slap eachother’s butts, what’s next?
PS3 will triumph over 360, and it will be painful for 360.
July 25th, 2008
I don’t think you actually read the article you linked CAD because you’re taking it out of context
July 26th, 2008
Cmon CAD that is a silly point about bluray and not even 5%… How long did it take for DVD to take a foothold over VHS…years and years m8. Blu-ray is brand new, it’s going to take time. That was a low blow punch to score cheap points with no substance and you know it.!!
Kev, so it’s alright for you to post stuff that aren’t “fact” but if anyone else does (including blorge), well that a travesty. They posted an article on something widely reported accross the net and your up in arms over it. If it was a sony “speculation” story, you would be all over it like a fat kid on a cupcake. Double standards Kev, you don’t even do it discretely.
CAD, I’m more than happy with my gaming experience with the PS3 (including online), what they have and are continuing to deliver. Why should it matter to you if “you think” they aren’t. If were happy and don’t we have been “punked” it shouldn’t mean anything to you, so stop trying to convince us we are ?? Sure, improvements can be made, but equally the same could be said for 360. But I don’t own a 360….so I don’t care.
July 26th, 2008
spidey
it’s not a silly fact it’s the truth.
Bourne
If you don’t care then don’t respond to it.
July 26th, 2008
So CAD you are saying because blu-ray didn’t “explode” and render DVD totally and utterly obsolete IMMEDIATELY, it is a failure.
That is the point you are making = utterly stupid.
July 26th, 2008
My god Spidey, by that logic all of the following are failures: iPod, HD TV, Windows Vista, etc. lmao, oh CAD you try so hard
July 26th, 2008
Common sense that’s not all that common I’m afraid.
July 27th, 2008
It did not take DVD ‘years and years’. Again, your posts are purely assinine.
Nice posting CAD.
July 27th, 2008
Whatever Harry, everyone here knows that DVD took many years to overthrow VHS. I remember DVD players being $400-$500 dollars, the same as blu-ray players now. It wasn’t until DVD players came right down in price and aggressive advertising, that made consumers finally switched over in droves. The same will happen with blu-ray. Heck, prices have dropped a couple of hundred dollars within the last six months already.
But you keep living in your little bubble Harry boy, only to pop your little head out every now and again to congratulate your little xbot buddies.
And if your going to come out and call my posts “assinine”, but don’t back up your own claims, well, do I need to say more ??
July 27th, 2008
agreed spidey, people were’nt ready to switch to DVD from a perfectly fine VHS, but the major companies endorsed DVD players and started to only sell them thus the consumer had to switch. This is what’s going to happen to all companies as there’s such a huge stake what with HDMI cables, hdtv’s and blu-ray discks/players themselves offering a load of cash for each company able to produce them. Its only a matter of time before DVD’s get etched out completely.
July 27th, 2008
It did not take many years. It took about 3 and a half. A feat I can’t see bloooo ray achieving, even when it’s bundled with the P$3 (admittedly, that is the only feature of the P$3 I like).
So yes, your claims are assinine.
July 27th, 2008
On that note, where would blooo ray be without the P$3? Dead and buried. The P$3 is the only thing keeping Blooo ray alive.
July 27th, 2008
I suspect if there was no PS3 then HD-DVD would have won.
However even Sony ‘thanked’ the PS3 at E3 for the success of blu-ray. So its not like they were trying to keep that hidden or anything.
July 27th, 2008
Harry said: “It did not take many years. It took about 3 and a half…”
This is what educated people call “arguing over semantics.” It’s pointless. To me, 3 and a half years seems like it could easily qualify as “many.” Blu Ray has a nice 2 years left to reach that mark and replace DVD.
-Arvis
July 27th, 2008
And again your right Arvis.
My whole point was, that it took considerable time for the transistion from vhs to dvd. The same will occurr for blu-ray.
July 28th, 2008
alright spidey, what SPECIFICALLY did i post that was not factual?
arvis - arguing over semantics? geez, harry made a great point and you disagree on the basis of “semantics”? losing your touch…
July 28th, 2008
Kev,
DID Harry make a great point? I’m open to this possibility, I just don’t see it. And your post isn’t helping me see it at all. He LITERALLY said, “It’s not MANY, it’s 3.5!”
I know you know what semantics is, so tone-down the bullheadedness and be honest with us.
